Hey Fellow Ratlings!!! I Recently went back to Fantasy after a while of playing 40k, After much though i chose to go with the children of the Horned Rat. Here is What i have so for in my list 1 Warlord 1 Grey Seer 1 Chieftan 1 Plague Priest (Plague Furnace) 1 Warlock Engineer 80 Clanrats 20 Giant Rats 6 rat ogres 30 Plague Monks 10 plague Censer Bearers 1 Hellpit Abomination 1 Doomwheel Now here is my problem, there is not many of us in my local are who play, so my main opponent is a tomb kings player, however after several games i still cannot seem to get the upper hand on him. ( he generally runs magic/construct heavy and sits back and hold a tight formation so i cannot gain any flanks attacks) Do you guys have any suggestions on new models/units i should buy to make my army more effective? what tactics or dirty tricks i should use to overcome this army? Oh, i forgot to mention, He sticks his heirophant on top of a warsphinx so that makes things even more difficult. Any advice/help/tactics would be much appreciated as i am slowly slipping back to 40k because i cannot get the victory i need to get my passion for fantasy back. I know it aint all about winning but it wiuld be great to beat such a cheese filled list. Many thanks in advance guys.

You should get a Warp Lightning Cannon, to kill his Hierophant and some units of Gutter Runners with Slings and Poison would really cripple his standing formation. As far as know, Tomb Kings don't have a lot of chaff units to make it harder to reach him, so you should focus on one side of his formation while shooting at the other. If you use those Gutter Runners correctly, his flanks will have to go away from the rest of it as their shooting has to be dealt with. |

Thanks, i was thinking of getting some gutter runners, just wasnt sure whether slings or hand weapons was best. Also, is there any other models you could use to convert into gutter runners? Thanks |

Gutter runners will almost always have poison and slings. It makes the unit incredibly versitile. Does he use entombed beneath the sands a lot (where units with the rule can appear just about anywhere on the board, similar to the warp grinder)? If not , then WLCs and espeically PCCs will hurt him if his formation is as "tight" as you say. But if he does use it and you want to field a WLC or PCC, a large unit of GRs who stay back by the warmachine(s) and charge the unit when it comes up might help. Also the lore of plague can clean out quite a few models per turn. BTW, what points value is this being played at? There can be some pretty strong lists you could make with what you own in lower point values, though if he is fielding is heirophant on a sphinx its probally around 1.5-2k. In higher point games, you are going to need more models. Try facing him in a few lower point games (at most 1k) until you can get your army larger, you have enough CRs (or slaves if you want to turn the unarmoured CRs into slaves) to be able to take advantage of skaven numbers in lower point games, but even if you could field up to 2k in points, you wouldn't have the numbers in your amry to compete very well in that range.. As too other models, I remember some pretty good conversions from the current CR models in the skaven painting/hobby section. |

I'm currently trying to convert a bunch of gutter runners like this: Body of the master moulder of the island of blood box set (costs around 1.5 dollars on ebay or bits sites) Slave sling upgrade pack from GW site (costs 8 dollars for 8 slingarms or so) Nightrunners claw weapon arms / clanrat claw weapon arms (also 2-3 dollars for 8 on the various bits sites) In total it costs me around 50 dollars for 3 x 7 gutterrunnners, 21 in total. Bit pricey maybe but I think its worth it not having to include monkeymen in my army of good looking skaven. I haven't decided yet if I will give them all a combo of claw weapons and a sling or that I give some slings and some claw weapons. It's probably way to hard to reload a sling if your handling a claw weapon

The Regen rule say something like "If the regen doesn't include a number it's assumed to be 4+" or something like that. Either way, it's 4+ |
