Hey guys, I'm buying two sets of IoB and was wondering what peoples thoughts are on the high elf army that could be made out of it... One of my mates wants to get back into the hobby and I was wondering if you could make an effective high elf army out of the two IoB sets + some cheap additions... cheers! |

My blade shall cause your death

I believe this would be more suited to ulthuan but from my knowledge the high elf army from the set has a hideous amount of core points and a massive amount of character points. It needs most of a core army in models.

I have awoken, so have my pets. My blades will be upon you soon. Then you will be bathed in warp-fire. *Laughs evilly*

And the models are nicer then the ones from the batallion sets too (this for both the skaven and the high elfs). But there arent any spare parts

10 LSG per set isn't a hideous amount of points spent in core. Most Helf players I know say that if you want to run a LSG unit, you spend the whole 25% of your minimum core requirement on them and spend the full points allowed in special. Overall its a decent set, but the HE player will need spend more money since the LSG and SMs provided won't pull the army on their own, he will want more SMs, or grab some WLs and/or PGs. Also, I believe most people consider the griffon a poor choice for the lord. Mutate: And great eagles are also incredibly popular, I they can have 2 per rare slot, so he will probally want to get 4. Yeah i tried to join that forum and either i clicked the wrong thing or there was a glitch.... either way now the website wants my parents to sign and fax some disclaimer form back to them (I'm 19...). Anyway on the leaders point he would probably just use one mage and the griffon. If all the force would need is some extra spearmen/archers and maybe an eagle or two that would be ok but more than that and it would be a bit useless. |
