I DO agree on the FAQ Errata thing, but they seem to have not...yknow... playtested/ beta balanced 8th edition lol Actually, having played v people with cheap casters, I've run into them WANTING the power scroll's miscast. VC in Alamo and one I know in Monterey will do it- basically they have a Vargh, a REAL caster, and the 'Achmed' (I name it based on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhVpoRaTdj0 ) Lev 1, Power Scroll, Lore of Death. They cast something like Purple Sun , and rush into either that same or a similar unit- usually one they can break instead of wipe out. You choose between the 3 which you allow to live because you MIGHT be able to get 2. |

You know, I kinda like it (and not just because it doesn't effect my Daemons )Power Scroll still works on the same spells; those that were too expensive to cast otherwise. You can now these spells off without the necessary miscast that would go along with it. Sure it can be dispelled but that not only makes it balanced but it now requires more tactical thought. Plus you would be a blind Warhammer player to have not seen all the controversy surrounding that item ![]() Mutate: another bonus - easy to cast Cataclysm spells! I agree it's still a usefull item, Casting a 13th spell on 3 dice or 6 dice makes a huge difference, fair enough it is no longer IF but neither is their a miscast. My only problem with it is that a 25point item (dispell scroll) could negate the attempt of youir 35 point item. They should have made it a little cheaper imo. Flem, |

You only get 1 dispell scroll so hold your power scroll till later in the game most people won't wait too long to use a dispell scroll.

Fun fact one of my friends realized about the new Power Scroll. He's an Orc and Goblin player and was playing against Daemons on Wednesday. He took the power scroll and used it to cast Curse Of Da Bad Moon. Usually a 25+ Remains In Play magical vortex that is random charactaristic test or die dealie. Anyway. Used Power Scroll to reduce casting down to 13+, opponent failed to dispel, so now there's a huge magical vortex ripping about the table. In the opponents turn, he tried to dispel it, but what do we dispel a Remains In Play spell on if it's not the initial cast? It's base power value. And since Curse Of Da Bad Moon's base casting value is 25+... Yeah, it didn't get dispelled for the rest of the game. Kinda wish Dread 13th was a Remains In Play vortex now. |

I see a new, potentially cheap tactic for us skavens ![]() Force your opponent to use dice to dispell wither/plague/whatever nastiness, then when you are both out of dice use the new PS and throw 3 warp tokens at the 13th. |

Yes you can not use the higher value is a spell has 2 values you must use the base one. Unlucky for some but not for the 13th

Skaven 1 - Other armies 0 Nah just kidding their still are great uses for this item even though you can't use it on boosted spell versions. 8+ infernal gateway / final transmuatation or small transformation of kadon are the first that come to mind.Flem, |

Before I state my opinion I am going to remain skeptical and say I want proof of this. By proof I mean an official Games Workshop errata.

A WiteDwarf is no less a gw publication than a free PDF they might put up on their website. They're both sourced from GW and both official for the purposes of altering game play. GW seems to finally have (re)smartened up, by realizing they can make us pay for updates by putting them in a White Dwarf (like they did ~5+ years ago; RE: DoW Giants). Because personally, white dwarf is a lackluster gaming magazine and more of a glorified brochure for new products; I'd never buy one, but if they start publishing gaming changes again I may be forced to buy a few here and there.. --Cap Edited by CapAmr05, 5th August 2011 - 05:00 PM.

Unfortunately I do not buy white dwarfs and I do not see why they would put it in there. None of my friends have seen it and we were blissfully unaware it was even in one of the white dwarfs. They would not believe me if I told them this and they would ask for physical proof. When I said proof I meant that I want to see it with my own eyes and that means I will have to buy it. Note the fact I want to see it is not I distrust you it is in my nature. |

I can assure you that it is official and within the White Dwarf, I've got it open in my lap as I type this It will however also be contained in the FAQ's that they release online this month, according to the bit in White Dwarf. So one way or another you will get your proof

You missed an entire point in my ealier post. That's exactly why they're going to start putting this information back into white dwarf. To bait people like you and me who don't buy it, to start purchasing it so we can have the most up to date gaming information (rules/ unit entries/ costs/ magic items) without having to wait on them ~month to update the free FAQs. They want to make the WD an increased commidity, and in giving out information like this they will/have. --Cap |
