I loved the idea of it- I'd just have "Armies of the East".
2 separate ranges though: Nippon and Ind, with Cathay and Kislev. Both are Neutral ranges but Kislev may ally with Forces of Order with a twist:

Araby plays 2 separate roles- Ind/ Nippon, they are Scout, Marauder, Outrunner types with the high fantasy stuff
Cathay/ Kislev they have a creepy 'anti-Chaos' extremism. They make steam-bots and work with high magics/ super sciences (like dwarves, but...more clockwork)
and neither army can team with OK.

From there, you can build historical places, items of power, you name it.
I miss a lot of the old stuff. I can see why it moved forward, but there's still SO much that can be exploited! Bear Cavalry. Heck, I'm voting for Flying Sharks too!

When GW came out with the bears for Kislev in The Storm of Chaos, wasn't that around the time that they were prepping His Dark Materials to become a movie trilogy? Possibly, the fact that the film of The Golden Compass didn't take off, and there was no craze for armoured bears--which, had it been a hit, there easily could have been--diminished GW's desire to stick with Kislev.

I would never claim to be especially strong on fluff, but is there a connection between Kislev and Cathay? Because I was under the impression that Kislev was an autonomous vassalage of the Empire to the North, with the ruler of Kislev owing fealty to the Emperor at Altdorf. Cathay is a completely separate empire off to the East, with no connection to the Empire other than a few trade routes.

Blasphemy.... Kislev is a wholly independent state they have their own ruler Tzarina Kathrine but they are allied with the Empire. More or less the empire uses kislev as a speed bump for any Chaos invasion. The only real connections between Kislev and Cathay would be the fact that the High Pass which is in Kislev goes through the World Edge Mountains where some trade could go through to Cathay.

The best solution from a GW standpoint is to officially bring Kislev back into the game would be apart of a new Empire book. They will lose a lot of individualistic flavour but at least they will exist.

I would agree that it would be nice to see a "Other Realms" book Kislev, Tilea, Estalia, Cathay, Nippon and Ind but considering GW won't release books for any of these armies any time soon I'm not holding my breath. I guess there could be some hope from Warhammer Forge to do some units and rules much like they have for some of the special imperial units.

I have about 1500 points of kislevites and occasionally use their allied contingent rules as a stand alone force. I lose badly.
