With the new storm of magic expansion coming to warhammer I was just wondering what I should do with the extra points, I currently have a 2000 point Skaven army (75 clanrats, warlock engineer, grey seer, plauge priest, poisoned wind mortar, warpfire thrower, ratling gum 20 plauge monks, 4 rat-ogres, 6 giant rats warlord and a hell-pit abomination). I was thinking about a unit of pink horrors with a changling that is a loremaster of life but I also like the idea of a giant. Also I don't know if the army I alredy have would be good enough. Any advice or suggestions would really be appreciated.
It is not the coward that run-runs, but the warlord who values his life.

The Great Bunny. Now with a mop. :)

I intend to fix up my Lammasue and paint my giant. With two monsters any other points will probably go into buying some of the cool new magic items. :)

My goal is to snag some models that fly! Skaven with flying, let alone vanguard seems like just madness to me. Prepare for Guttermuck's Great Dragon horde!
One dragon counts as a horde right, or are they monstrous infantry and I need them 6 wide? ;)

The skaven page about SOM mentions some thing flying for skaven on the SOM anyways so chances are we get flying rats of a sort.
It's available now in UK it arrived at my local store retailer today and he's letting us buy it tonight. I told him I wanted to gander first. Looking forward to it!

I don't really want to dilute my Skaven force....I'm happy to spend extra points on HPA's, Vermin Lords and Grey Seers!!! Not exactly settling for second best.....

I did have a conversion in mind a while back for a Giant. I thought I could use the dragon Skull available in the Giant kit (club weapon), and add it to the Giant's face to form a "muzzle". then liberally add greenstuff fur to the face and body.......and a tail, of course. You could add an extra limb or two, and some hammered-in warpstone too....

Converting Bob.

I'm going to buy the Cockatrice and I will use it in tandem with a Hydra when I play SoM. I will probably also use the Cockatrice as a HPA in normal games. I also want a Taurus.

Why U do dis?!
The cockatrice is calling to me... but then I am tempted to have unit of skeletons to use as the cursed company.

The cockatrice rules are kinda scary....
"strength 2, wound on Initiative" Not that scary "With sniper at BS5" ok.... "With heroic killing blow" oh dear god.
I am looking to get a hold of the following items, as many as possible:
The new style skulls from numerous kits (less heroic scale skulls)
Any bits of skeletons (both older skeletons and new vc skeletons)
Toppers from stormvermin banners (grey seer type skulls)

I have lots of fantasy and 40k bits to trade, including:
Imperial guard special and heavy weapons
Daemonette bits
Bits from land raiders, and chaos space marines
clanrat arm weapons
hellpit arms
Ghoul and zombie bodyparts
older metal Chaos marines

Message me if you can help.

lol.....HKB is a nasty thing indeed. Out of the new range of monsters, the Cockatrice is my favourite, but I also like the older models....and as i say, the giant. Has anyone seen the rules for the extra-large giant (can't recall the name), available from forgeworld? Nasty.

Other than that, I like the idea that the HPA isn't in the SoM book....nice to have a bit of exclusivity. For monsters, I think I'll stick with them and Vermin Lords.....

I dunno. I'm very tempted to convert an Araknarok being ridden by a warlord.

Honestly, I'm tempted to do a lot of conversions.

DAMMIT! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT GW WANT! I MUST RESIST!

Taking additional speel casters is the way forward and what better than a 250 point flying, fire breathing, level2 spell casting monster. Lamassu FTW!!! After that what ever floats your boat. The Chimera and Cockatrice both look like great models and I can also see myself getting some Forgeworld models on top of the Vermin Lord when it is released...

Happy Hobby Days :)

I was contemplating grabbing that nasty book that gives you Loremaster Death/Shadow/Fire (?!!) with a Grey Seer in a gigantic unit of Slaves (like 80)? Then casting Okkams Mind Razor on a horde of Plague Monks with the Plague Banner....

Just say 36, rerollable to hit and wound, S10 attacks (and thats only against a regular 5 infantry frontage) and watch the opponent immediately concede the game. I assume we get to use our special leadership rule with it, and if not thats still a large amount of S5 (base), S7 (general) or S8 (no general but SIN) hits.

Also..wait..what?! We are getting flying units for skaven?!?!

**can't remember but I'm pretty sure it was loremaster shadow...if not forgive me...**

I'm playing my first SoM Thursday unfortunately against my noobiest of friends. What I'm thinking of is a Pact with Vampire Counts considering I have 4k+ and that in my mind Vampires are the best for SoM, my reason for this being their Forbidden Lore vampire power. Unless you put the wizards hat on a Warlord, Skaven has only our two Lores, but add in a Vamp or 2 with all the spells of any of the main eight lores and you got something there. In the one list I've come up with so far (2k), the 500 pts are spent on a thrall with Forbidden Lore, Armor of Night and Talisman of the Lycni, a small unit of 16x CG and a Black Coach that IMO should be Lvl 6 by the end of the first turn and will continually screw with PD.
