I am not sure if you noticed, but I said in SoM the level 2s would have access to Life. I understand it isn't in the current book or FAQ, that is why I mentioned in SoM they could, sigh. Here is the text that leads me to believe they will have access to the lore. "With large blocks of Glade Guard archers and nigh-on unkillable Treemen guardians, not to mention Spellsingers who can bring units back to life with their magic, the Wood Elves can create a potent defensive wall around their Arcane Fulcrums." From Here. |

So, do you guys think that this expansion will make the Verminlord a viable character selection? He seems too costly for what you get in regular WHFB (pretty much always better to get two seers, or a seer and Abomination, before the VL, seemingly) In Storm of Magic, the 3+ ward and his Toughness and wounds might finally make him a decent buy. I love the fig but can never legitimately justify fielding him! Maybe now? Thoughts? Lowly Slave Merhotep |

To keep two discussions apart from one another, this thread is about the Scourge of the Storm campaign, whereas the actual Storm of Magic expansion is discussed in the following thread: http://s6.zetaboards.com/The_UnderEmpire/topic/8730282/ Greetz |

Well it looks like there is little if any info out there about this. Warseer appears to know nothing and I can't find any other info out there. Still should be interesting. If this is along the same lines as the previous Games Workshop campaigns |

Would it be at all likely it would be based off the book they'll be releasing with Storm of Magic? Just a thought. Sounds like a good book anyway. Seems to be hints of Skaven in their what with Morrislieb and grim truths about tombs and whatnot. I probably won't follow this campaign all that closely but if my friend does indeed manage to get his hands on a book then we might throw in the odd incidental game. Just to give some semblance of purpose to the hours we spend playing with our prettily painted little dolls.

The problem I have with these campaigns is that it is a large scale. That means that the good side will have to win and the bad must lose. Unless they find the sense to make it small scale. I would not mind if it was on a random island that was not important but the nature of these campaigns is the opposite. It could just be like the nemesis crown though. Devoid of any good. We may no be ignored but other factions will and that upsets me. |

That's the problem with Games Workshop campaigns in general. They go to grand meaning that the ending is pre determined. What would be good (and is hopefully what they are doing) is something on a smaller scale where they actually have the wiggle room to change things. From what I have heard Albino was good. Storm of Chaos annoyed a lot of people and we just don't talk about Nemesis Crown. If they have learned from their mistakes and do something of the same size as the Animosity Crew does than it will be good. If it's "THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!!!" than it will suck since they will have already decided that good will win and the world will not end. |

Storm of Chaos wasn't per se a bad campaign. The problem with the Storm of Chaos (aside from the Skaven players having a massive impact on the background) was that the Faction of Light (Empire, Dwarf, High Elf, etc.) simply destroyed the Chaos armies, whereas GW was apparently aiming for a big stand-off at the gates of Middenheim. Realizing this wouldn't be happening before the campaign ended, they pushed it into that direction, which was what put a lot of people off... The Nemesis Crown campaign was campaign-wise a good move in that regard, as they had all races in an anonymous forest for some *^@# item, so anything 'bad' that would happen (and let's just consider the death of Ratnesh the Fleet as a good thing, since he won't be bothering us Skaven anymore) wouldn't impact the overall canon of Fantasy that much. If they scale their campaign down to regional/ local size, they can go more wild again with their background, which I believe to be a good thing... I mean, I'm not a fan of the Privateer Press games, but what they do with their background is pure brilliance and that's the direction I hope GW will be taking for a change. Greetz |

My problem with the Gentle Showers of Chaos was that Skaven were forced to fight for the Chaos side. We don't want the Chaos freaks to win, because that would be the end of our ascendancy. As long as the hummies are still around, we can hope/expect to inherit, as the Horned Rat has promised. My Skaven boycotted (ratcotted?) the campaign, had we fought in it we would have fought for the greenskins as being closer to our own ratty goals. Others seem to have gotten their quiet revenge by making a mockery of the GW campaign fluff. But I agree with the larger point, that when GW tries to make these campaigns 'The END of the WORLD', to pump up the drama, it means that the result is preordained, since we as players know that they aren't going to end the Warhammer world. |

Well, the site has been opened and it seems we indeed have an online campaign. The concept is pretty simple, being a race versus race results tracker that eventually boils down to the question of which race had the most games played in their favour. Battles in GW stores have a greater impact, though unfortunately it seems that the blog is updated by GW with no apparent input to be delivered from out of the community. Greetz |

It is still large scale though. That means it will be rigged. I have had a look and some races are more active than Skaven. That may be because from this topic enthusiasm has been low. |

Well that was underwhelming. This does not deserve to be called a campaign, it looks like it is simply a glorified battle tracked with no plot. |

I'm honestly seriously disapointed, yes, it didn't have to be "The end of the world". But this is the other utter. We als don't want a as mentioned before "glorified battletracker". A story line IS required. Geez, Gamerworkshop when are you guys going to do something right!? |

Some people over at The Round Table and a few other forums are considering trying to make our own overall storyline connected to the campaign to make it a bit more than a spam contest. Anyone interested? |

The Council has also been contacted about this. Depending on the interest of other communities, this might be the most suitable solution to give this 'campaign' some positive swing at least. Greetz |
