I was just wondering if there are any really rare Skaven models. The old Jes Goodwin models seem pretty easy to get a hold of if you are patient. I know that there are several highly desired oop Chaos warrior and champion models for example but it seems that there isn't that much rarity when it comes to the good old Skaven stuff (which is a good thing for the collector I suppose). Am I right? What are some of our rarest models? |

The old metal boneripper doesn't seem too common. It makes a nice master bred. | |

The old clanrats with two hand weapons do seem to be a rarity in my area...although that might just be because I only have one of them. These are the 3 models in the range that I dont have a mini of. Collecting Skaven models is a by product of being a skaven aficionado for me. I sure havent seen one in a long while. Cant find a link to them but I remember that there were three separate metal models for clanrats with add hand weapons. Also there is an old wounded skaven model that is a rare mini also. Found in the bottom right on link. Linky Also some of the old metal giant rats seem rare (Linky 2) MUTATE: Found them in the old 1998 Citadel Catalogue ![]() Only two models made which makes my task of finding the one on the left easier since I have the one on the right already! Any old metal Skaven that find their way into my burrow get drafted into my Skaven horde. No special 'display' status for their age, they are expected to fight (and die) like any other Skaven. That said, not sure if I have the two with extra hand weapon - pretty sure that I have one of them, but a previous owner cut one of the weapons off. So he doesn't count. As for the 'wounded Skaven', it is hard to tell from that picture, is that not one of the old Mordheim Skaven casualty minis? Only Skaven mini that I can recall never seeing on eBay was the Mordheim Clan Skryre Rat Ogre (the mechanical set of bones). Eventually had to order that one from GW. |

None of my models get any special status either. They live and die just the same as all of the other skaven in my horde. That is NOT a mordheim wounded skaven. That mini in the link was made circa 1985ish. They didnt come out with the wounded mordheim skaven until mordheim was released. The Stuff of Legends website is pretty much the best online resource for the old line of GW models. Citadel page Marauder page pretty much most of the models in the catalogs listed are going to be made of lead and many of them are circa late 80s. |

yeah 100% not the wounded mordheim The wounded mordheim skaven looked like the plastic clan rats at the time I have to say that the 1980's wounded skaven is one of the rarest skaven I know of. In 20 plus years of collecting skaven I have yet to see that model. The only pic I have seen is on the SOL page. Maybe it has been up on ebay in the past but I must have missed it. I would love a couple for my collection but I'm not holding my breath. There are few of the 1980's rats that are harder to find than some of the other but I don't think I would give them the "rare" label. http://www.solegends.com/citjour86a/cj86ap21c47skaven-02.htm Canker from this link is one of the harder to find clan rats The gutter runners from this link and the really big old giant rat are also a bit tougher to find these days There are also a few unreleased skaven minis but they kinda suck. |

Can I just offer you a massive "thank you" for linking that shot? It's been so long since I first became interested in Skaven and Warhammer that I'd completely forgotten that these models existed (I think I first saw them in the 90s print of the army book). I'd tried to remove all thought of retro ratmen models from my mind after dealing with the terrible plastic clanrats I first purchased back in '95-'96. Time to go hunting for those gutter runners! Mutate: Same goes to Yobtar too for the catalogue listings! Edited by Grey Seer Kwokka, 25th September 2011 - 02:56 AM.

yeah the old stuff is so good But I think I may have found an odd skaven model from the 4th edition skaven army book (red cover). You can see it on page 36 The clan rat is in the unit pushing the Bell in the bottom picture. He is the third clan rat back in the outside rank. He is also in the front rank of the same unit in the picture above. He has a bare head and hood (painted red). I have no idea what model this is and I thought I had everything. Anyone know what this is? It almost looks at a first attempt prototype for a plastic clan rat. The more I look at it, the more I'm conviced of this. It has some of the same feature except that it's stance is reversed. odd yeah those aren't too hard to find I think the rarest one is the guy on the left with the cleaver |
