URL: http://blood-bowl.nl/?table=bb_teams_curre...d=uid1300271450 With the Blood Bowl World Cup taking place in Amsterdam late November, I am a member of one of the Dutch teams participating in this three-day tournament. However, with each team requiring every player to use a different team, I made it clear during the last mailing that I would very much like to use my Skaven for the tournament... which I haven't played in quite some time, so I decided to start a new (and my fourth) team in the new league I'm currently playing in to get my game a bit up to par again. As such, I present: UnderEmpire.net Supersonics #1 Fourfangs [Rat Ogre] #2 Skrot Gribz [Stormvermin] #3 Barada Nikto [Stormvermin] #4 Threek Anklebiter [Thrower] #6 Vosnaardiskikk [Gutter Runner] #7 Venin Slink [Gutter Runner] #8 Skaret Longtail [Gutter Runner] #10 Queerck [Linerat] #11 'Cheesehead' McGee [Linerat] #12 Hissleskit [Linerat] #13 Kreep Bristleback [Linerat] Team Value: $1000k / Team Rating: 100 Treasury: $0k Fan Factor: 4 Re-Rolls: 2 Apothecary: 0 Assisting Coach: 0 Cheerleader: 0 Being the sneaky headcoach I am, I have made good use of the entrants in my past Blood Bowl RPGs, using the names of the characters of chronologically numerouno, Scarfester, Decker_cky, Demagorgon, Morkskittar, SneakyRodent, scrivener, Morgoth, Llamarama, Rusty Tincanne and Warlord Gnashik. So, in case we are going to start the fanclub again, I now know exactly which character name belongs to what member. ![]() Greetz |

Personnaly i remove the thrower, i never use him in my last league, only for have the chief compétence for the free reroll. I took a linemen instead and add a apothecary or start fo a fourth Gutterrunners. I start with 4 of them and for my first game aHalfling player with two Treeman and enought difference for took the treemen champion, oups three Treemens.I run run run and finish with 5 touchdowns to 1. A lot of runners is fragile but good. ![]() Just my personnal wiew, but your rooster is really good as you do it. |

Well, the team is a bit different from previous Skaven league teams I've run with, as I wanted to get a Rat Ogre upon starting it, instead of later on (and then blowing my team rating sky high, thus coming up against teams with so many more skills). This has led to some re-arranging, which is the reason why I took three Gutter Runners instead of four... Yes, they are fast, but aside from the two (free) re-rolls the Thrower brings onto the pitch, having Sure Hands means I don't have to worry about an opponent running at him with the Strip Ball skill (especially once the Thrower has gained some XPs and has the Block skill). Then again, we shall see what is going to happen... ![]() Greetz |

I had my first league match with the Skaven team tonight, facing off against an Orc team with one game under their belt (no skills, though they did have an apothecary). My opponent was quite friendly and a great sport throughout the match, enduring my whoops and groans as the sixteen turns went by. Why so much noise from my side? Well, as he hadn't taken along his dice, I let him borrow some of mine and apparently, I have mistreaten my dice as every block he rolled during the first half either incorporated a pow/ a dodge-pow. Seriously, half the time I was letting a portion of my team stand up again, as they had been knocked flat the previous turn. Aaaaaanyhow, a rundown of what exactly happened... We started off with pouring rain, meaning there'd be a -1 modifier for picking up balls, catching, or intercepting them. This eventually prove to be quite the nuisance for me, as that -1 modifier would indeed be the difference between a succesfull roll and a turnover on multiple occassions. Luckily for me, most of the fans were on my hand, as I had a +2 FAME modifier, so would eventually gain some extra cash in the end. The first half was a show of how much your dice in the hands of your opponent can turn themselves against you. Early on, Skrot Gribz was the first to be knocked off the field. A vicious block from one of the Orcs finally broke not only through the armour, but also hit the Stormvermin at a weak point in his neck, breaking it. Luckily, the injury wasn't lethal, though the recuperation means the Stormvermin will be unavailable for at least one match. After that, the headcoach will most likely use him as an offensive tag team with Fourfangs the Rat Ogre. (The skill choices for Skrot will propably be Guard and Mighty Blow on normal rolls with Side Step and Prehensile Tail on doubles, making him an ideal assistant for the blocking and blitzing Rat Ogre). However, despite being the receiving team, the Orcs had trouble handling the ball in the rain. Even while the Skaven couldn't immediately take advantage of this (rolling 3's to pick up the ball, where I needed a 4, on several occassions!), Skaret Longtail eventually managed to get a hold on the ball. Looking around him, he noticed the bad number of Orcs that were looming around him. If he wouldn't score now, they'd be all over him and not to congratulate him on his play. So, dodging away, he ran towards the endzone and let go of the ball, which after a short flight landed right into the paws of the waiting Venin Slink, bringing the score to a respectable 1-0 lead for the Skaven! Unfortunately, the Orcs could play that scoring game as well. Barging through the Skaven defence that couldn't stand up agains the four opposing Black Orcs (causing them trouble throughout the entire match), they eventually managed to get into scoring distance. Despite a feeble attempt to stall their advance, the Orcs would have none of that and managed to score the 1-1 two turns before halftime... With the option to score still being there, the Skaven set themselves up for a final push, but the horrible play of Threek Anklebiter meant neither team would make any succesfull action before halftime. (Eventually, Threek was to prove herself as a horrible dissapointment, failing to pick up the ball or make a quick pass even with a skill re-roll on far too many occassions). When the second half began in much clearer weather, the Skaven were the receiving team for the first time and made good use of it. Despite the initial rush to get the ball on its way to the endzone failing, Queerck managed to get himself into a position to score. However, as a Black Orc and Blitzer began to close in on him, the clever linerat dodged into a tackle zone, out of it and managed to 'go for it' his way into the endzone. This rush was followed by an excellent move of Vosnaardiskikk, another veteran from the Skaven team. Picking up the ball, he ran through an Orc tackle zone, did two go for it's and managed to throw a very long pass, right into the paws of Queerck. A perfect pass, letting the crowd go wild as the Skaven once more went into the lead. However, this upset the Orc coach badly. Ordering his team to annihilate the Skaven, both 'Cheesehead' McGee as well as Vosnaardiskikk soon found themselves in the infirmary, though were both only badly hurt. However, with a KOed player next to them, the Orcs managed to make good use of their superior numbers and let the game end in 2-2 as they scored in the sixteenth and final turn. What were the learning points in the end? - Do not get involved in a blocking game, as the Skaven are not properly equipped for this; - The Skaven team, even the linerats, are built for dodging; - When the only player your Rat Ogre kicks off the pitch is a KOed Black Orc at turn 12, something isn't going particularly well; - Plan ahead, think of what you want to do, perform the safe actions first and stick to your plan, as weird/ hard as it might be. I hope you liked the match report. ![]() UnderEmpire.net Supersonics #1 Fourfangs [Rat Ogre] #2 Skrot Gribz [Stormvermin] - MNG, AG-1 #3 Barada Nikto [Stormvermin] #4 Threek Anklebiter [Thrower] #6 Vosnaardiskikk [Gutter Runner] - 1 SPP (COMP1) #7 Venin Slink [Gutter Runner] - 3 SPP (TD1) #8 Skaret Longtail [Gutter Runner] - 1 SPP (COMP1) #10 Queerck [Linerat] - 3 SPP (TD1) #11 'Cheesehead' McGee [Linerat] - 5 SPP (MVP1) #12 Hissleskit [Linerat] #13 Kreep Bristleback [Linerat] Team Value: $1020k / Team Rating: 102 Treasury: $0k Fan Factor: 5 Re-Rolls: 2 Apothecary: 1 Assisting Coach: 0 Cheerleader: 0 Journey-Rats: 1 Results - 07/04/2011: draw versus Orc (2-2 in TD and 0-3 in CAS)
Well, no, we don't. However, as we are with a team of six, figuring out who is going to use what team is a good way of giving everyone enough time to prepare their team (in any way they want to) for the three-day tournament that is to come. Some (such as yours truely) do well to have a few games under their belt, to get the feeling of the team again... However, I do have a few concepts of team rosters for various teams I own, should someone else be taking Skaven instead of me. Greetz |

Thanks for the match updates Vinshqueek. As a wannabe Blood Bowl coach I find this sort of postgame report very helpful. My Skaven team has been recruited and being flown over to begin training. Hopefully I can do the dirty rats proud. Any chance you can put up a pic of your Supersonics? |

Indeed I did A fine start for queerck, but why does he perform better, when playing on other teams? Perhaps you should not answer that Best of luck for your next match. Edited by Morgoth, 14th April 2011 - 07:59 AM.

Oh, trust me, some actions during that match were rather lucky ones. Generally when really needing a player to step it up and do what I want them to, is usually the moment when they fail me utterly. However, at these moments, all things fell into place... Out of sixteen turns though, I have to say that the bludgeoning of my opponent certainly gave me a hard run for my money.
They are a much-used team, so don't look horribly well, but I'll try to put up a picture soon enough. Greetz |

Tonight was something of a busy league night, as our regular gaming location closed up early due to their vacation, thus requiring us to seek another venue for the evening. In addition, we had three new players, a cup final match to be played and an uneven number of players for the evening. So, I eventually did something that I have never done before, which is a simultaneous Blood Bowl match with my Skaven versus a rookie Dark Elf team and my rookie Lizardmen versus a rookie Goblin team... Looking back at it, this experience isn't something I am likely to repeat often. Simultaneous Blood Bowl is quite stressful, as well as demanding so very, very much from your concentration. Although not having anything to do with Skaven, the Lizardmen versus Goblin match was quite a fun one. While you'd expect the Sauri to make quick work of the (many) Goblins on the pitch, they were quite hard to take down. This led to a quick touchdown for the Goblins at around turn five. All the while, my ball handling skills were a bit nerve-wrecking. However, due to some unfortunate failed dodges, my opponent managed to give me enough room to sack his ball carrier and claim the ball. We fumbled it around a bit during turns thirteen to fifteen. During the last turn, one Skink had to do a pick up and a hand-off in order to get a tied score. I rolled a five, followed by... a three, meaning I managed to pull off a very hard-fought draw. Looking back at it, it was a good representation of the chances for both teams. The Supersonics, however, were a complete difference. With Dark Elves never being a favourite opponent of mine (as my current record against team is 1/1/17 with 12 touchdowns in total for me and 51 against), I was a bit hesitant about all of this. After all, despite this being the first time my opponent played the tabletop version of the game, he already had several hundreds of matches on FUMBBLE under his belt and this clearly showed during the match. Even though Fourfangs managed to break a line-elf apart quite early in the match, my opponent had a hold of the ball and kept enough distance to keep me on my toes regarding the position of his players. In general, when you can't reach the ball carrier, one would have to focus on the receivers on your half of the pitch. While I did do this (albeit partly distracted by the other match I was playing at the same time), he had enough room to eventually do a short pass to one of his Blitzers, which (with a blitz from a fellow Blitzer) managed to have a free path into my endzone. However, the Supersonics were not lost so quickly! Retaliating, the start of the new drive saw various Dark Elfs get stunned. While my cage was first on the right side of the pitch, this meant I now had enough room to create a protective area for my ball carrier on the left side of the pitch. Obviously, I moved most of my players in that direction, meaning my opponent had to try and get most of his players up and about. Still, as much as he tried, Vosnaardiskikk ran towards the endzone and with a quick pass from Skaret Longtail scored the first Skaven touchdown of the match. During the second half, I initially began well, but as stress began to take the upper hand, my actions became a bit erratic. I made a few errors, had a few bodged first actions of a turn (as in, three times in a row) and eventually had my opponent scoring the 1-2 during his fifteenth turn. This meant I had no chance to score a tie and even an attempt to have 'Cheesehead' McGee do a completion to get his sixth starplayer point failed. All in all, a tense first half and a dissapointing second half. ... and yes, the report is shorter then usual, but at 1:30AM my mind is becoming a complete blank. Last night was league night again and I was facing off against a rookie(-ish) Chaos Pact team. Dreadful match. Plain. Dreadful. In the first two turns, Vosnaardiskikk got badly hurt through a block, Skaret Longtail got killed though the apothecary managed to revive him, and Threek Anklebiter got pushed into the crowd, causing the thrower to also end up in the casualty box. Add to that two KO's and one can imagine that I simply did not have enough numbers to make a proper stand against my opponent. Especially once you start messing up the first dice rolls of your turn, which generally consist of getting a ball to my single remaining Gutter Runner. So, yeah, a match I would simply like to forget. Fast.
