Seems good to me, lots of skaven Two things: First you will need some more cc power (could use rat ogres or so but if you use them you will have to march them behind a unit of slaves) And (this is not very helpfull probably) use a doomwheel couse the're so cool. (Im using one in every battle) but that's just my opinion (Doomwheels are deffinitly my favorite models.) |

When adding, are you thinking of a 2500 list or are you talking about modifications to this list and still at 2000 points? I like the Doomwheel more than a Cannon because it's generally more effective at taking out Monsters (mobility, armor, more shots per turn with less downside on the Misfire) but if you're looking for anti-infantry the cannon is sure the way to go. I don't run a Furnace (don't think I've even proxied one) so I am not used to running a Plague Priest. I generally go with the lvl1 Engineer with Condenser and Doomrocket instead (and go Plague-heavy with my Seer to make up). I find the Engineer makes a nice hero to throw lots of killy out early, generally being able to make a crater in one big unit and a dent in another smaller one on turn 1. Stormbanner... Depends on the opponents but I like it against DE, Empire and Lizards in particular, especially with this list. Swap it for the Plague Banner? Maybe... Probably not on the BSB though... If you're going to give him one, consider the banner to lower enemy Ld within 12". |

I want to stay at the 2000 point level. So anything that is added takes something else away. Opponents-wise... Spells that target every single model in the unit are my biggest issue. Yeah, other skaven armies are my biggest pain! That is why I have boosted my anti-magic as best I can. Armies with large blocks of troops are a problem (again, Skaven and beastmen) Secondarily, very high save units are rough (but the cannon and magic and the HPA seem to counter these pretty well) Lastly, monsters can be a problem but both cannons and the HPA seem to do well countering this (but it is critical to have two cannons to garantee success). I have tried swapping a cannon for a doomwheel, but doomwheels are only good against monsters or to go gun hunting. Against big blocks of troops, you are either handing them the points or you are hiding it the whole game and trying to pass your leadership tests so it doesn't shoot at your own troops (this isn't a big deal since who cares about a few slaves, but...) Again a shame since I am working on a great Doomwheel conversion with tank treads instead of the wood planks. It narrows the profile and looks quite amazing! I haven't run into a gun-line list heavy enough to need the storm banner. So far, I have been able to laugh with my 45 rat units. They just don't have enough shots. But I recognize that those lists are out there. The plague monks absolutely have to have the plague banner. It takes them from a decent CC unit to one that will almost always win the first conflict they get into. I have tried Rat Ogres. It seems like a unit of 5 or 6 is pretty optimal. But for the same points, I can have a HPA that does twice as much and lasts three times as long as those Rat Ogres. Which is a shame since I have modified 6 IoB ogres to all look very different from each other. I could try swapping the Furnace unit (562 points) for two units of 6 Rat Ogres... which would give me enough targets that I could probably get one of them into combat. But I just think the Furnace unit is more durable. Other than a lucky cannon taking out the Furnace, the unit just powers thru almost anything. Conversely, even 6 Rat Ogres can lose combat, fail their leadership, and get over-run. I have had it happen enough to know... The furnace can sit on a flank and you don't have to worry about leadership/bsb bubbles. It just does its own thing. Plague Heavy is the only way to go with your Grey Seer ![]() Thanks for the comments so far... |
