Hey all so I will be having my second game ever as Skaven against my buddy who just started Vampires. We will be having a 1500 pt game and I wanted to know if you guys have any advice for me after viewing my list. Warlord warpstone armour, blade of corruption, potion of strength, shield Chieftain BSB, razor banner Warlock Engineer lvl 1 wizard, doom rocket 40 Clan Rats shields, command, WFT 20 Clan Rats command, shields, WFT 30 Giant Rats, 3 pack masters 6 rat ogres, 3 pack masters (one upgraded to Squeel Gnawtooth) 5 Jezzails WLC I hope to have enough shooting to soften up some targets before hitting them in combat. The Warlord and BSB will be in the big unit of clan rats to give them all armour piercing attacks. They will charge the vamp unit asap and hopefully my warlord will be bale to kill him first turn with S8 attacks and doubling wounds. Is it better to have squeel with the rat ogres or with the giant rats in this case. From what I can tell he will have skeletons, ghouls, grave gaurd, and possibly a black coach. |

he will prob have his general with the grave guard... if this is the case dont even think about charging your lord into that combat... he will be deader than a dead rat eaten by another dead rat. i would prefer to tool your lord for survival and return hits against softer units to wipe out an undead unit in a turn or two. warpstone armour with dawnstone, shield on a warlitter... or if you are feeling a little blood thirsty bonebreaker... on a litter take him in clanrats and make sure your opponent is attacking with as many weak creatures as possible... on bonebreaker run him alone and hit the flank of ghouls and other ranked inf... not grave guard. take an abomb to frontal charge his generals unit... he cant killing blow it and it will tear plenty of them up before it goes down. lose the jezzails and take censor bearers... and you might want to invest if you have the pts allocation left for it a doomwheel to take care of blackcoach and any small units of knights. you also need heaps more slaves... for the giant rats you could take 60+ slaves... hopefully he will go character heavy... if he does make sure you wipe out smaller units qucik and surround the few he has left... if he doesnt dont let him hit you with multiple combats... unless it is againt the abomb. lol. |

Thanks, for the advice. I will see what I can do about censor bearers and an abomb. As for the slaves, I am not a fan. I recognize their usefulness but I find their use boring and repetitive. The day I have to default every Skaven list to making sure I have heaps of slaves is the day i default back to green skins for sheer variety haha. |

I would make both of the clannies 30 strong rather than one 40 and one 20, a 20 strong unit of clanrats will do precisely and exactly nothing. They don't have the combat strength to actually kill anything, nor will they have the numbers to tie up a unit for more than a turn. Units of 30, however, can form up 5x6 and hold down a unit for a bit. Other than that, it's a perfectly solid list. PS I would put Skweel in the giant rats, all of the effects except +1 attack are better for them. Poison is almost a total waste when you have strength 5, and you can get a looooot more regenerating giant rat wounds than rat ogre wounds. |

One of the best things about WFT is the panic tests and the armor piercing, both of which i don't think you need against VC i'de drop both and say this might be a good time to take doom flayers, he won't have any shooting and they are lower point costs. |

Cool, 30 and 30 sound good to me. The only weapons teams I have to choose from are 2 wft, a rattling gun, and a PWM. Which two should I take from those choices? |

Wft would be the best out of those. PWG only wounds on a five and is really good for heavy armored armies, if you think hes going to take a lot of black knights then take it if not go with the WFT |
