Well, I guess I overlooked the an enemy champ/character challenging.  That definitely mucks things up a bit.  I guess that makes it even more of a situational tactic.  On the other hand, will your opponent actually challenge if they are not aware that the warlord is using warpstone armor?  Maybe? Maybe not?  More savvy and regular opponents will probably catch on, but some others might not.

Are you joking this is a preferred skaven tactic to dealing with enemy characters of course they will know it....

Believe it or not, not everyone who plays warhammer is familiar with the so called 'preferred skaven tactics for dealing with enemy characters' ... so, no, I guess I was not joking.

My idea was merely a reaction as to how to make use from skitterleaping a warlitter warlord (that's what this thread is about right?) It is just something that seemed like it'd be a lot of fun if you actually pull it off. Even if it fails miserably, it will still get plenty of laughs.

With enough Eng.s you could realistically do this to two Warlords into one unit about to get charged, Force your opponent into a position he doesn't want to be in.
Looking for the Limited Edition Skaven Standard Bearer. PM if you know where i can get one.

If a character is alone and charges one of my horde units that only has a champ in it, I can do one of two things, challenge with my champ, possibly win due to combat resolution, and hope to run him down, or I can not challenge, and try and poke as many holes in him as I can, and bring him down maybe after a turn or two. With the first option I run the risk of losing combat (due to overkill bonus), or I may not catch him if he flees, and if I do catch him, be out of position. With the second option I might not actually score any wounds, lose combat if he is geared to troop killing, or being stuck in position and unable to move.

In short, there are pro's and con's to challenging a lone character with a champ, just as there are pro's and con's to not challenging. I for one generally don't challenge a lone character as I want to get as many hits into him as I can, especially if my troops were cheap as I don't care how many of them die. Obviously if I were to do that against the reflecting wounds warlord I'd regret it and learn from my mistake, but challenging with your champion isn't an auto response for many a player, it is situational.

A big thing in the challenge is that the mount will not get to attack as he already dead and you can not allocated extra attacks on a dead model. The attacks of a single warlord or mount might just win you combat but it's not going to get you a great bonus.
