This is my first list since picking up WHFB in general, and Skaven in particular. I wanted to build a Pestilens themed army, as I like the look and fluff of them almost as much as Eshin, but it seems easier to play Pestilens. I want an army that is competitive but not necessarily tournament quality. Any and all C & C welcome, but remeber, I'm just starting. 2250 Skaven Clan Pestilens 1 Lord Skrolk, Plaguelord 1 Plague Priest @ 275 Pts Plague Furnace, Dispel Scroll 36 Plague Monks 267 Pts Standard, Musician 1 Plague Priest @ 172 Pts Magic Lvl2, 2ndWeapon, The Foul Pendant, Ironcurse Icon 1 Chieftain @ 115 Pts Battle Standard, Talisman of Preservation 29 Plague Monks @ 248 Pts Standard, Musician, Plague Banner 29 Plague Monks @ 218 Pts Standard, Musician 12 Plague Censer Bearers @ 192 Pts 1 Warp-lightning Warp Cannon 1 Plague Claw Catapult 1 Plague Claw Catapult Total Army Cost: 2247.0 Thanks ahead of time for any and all replies

I do not see it is very competitive. You just have roughly 100 models on the table, which is not a lot for Skaven. I would drop the second Plague priest for slaves. The WLC does not fit into the theme, so I would drop it as well for slaves or more PCBs. I would break the unit of PCBs into two, which makes it more flexible. All PM units are allowed to take a magic banner. I would strongly recommend taking these banners, especially the Storm Banner as your Furnace might get trashed otherwise pretty easily. |

Thanks Tezz, I was thinking along those same lines earlier. I'm pretty sure that not EVERY PM unit can take a banner (pg 105 Skaven Army book) but I agree that the Storm banner is too good to pass up. Originally i had my chieftain with that, but after I read about the Plague Banner I decided to go with that one and make the chieftain a bit harder to kill. Although really he shouldn't need a whole lot of protection with all the screening he should be getting. I was worried that the model count was low. I've played IG and 'Nids and I should have thought better. I guess I'm just so into the Lords/Heroes, and the skaven ones are so cheap, I almost want to use all my points on characters. But there will always be other armies for that. Also I was thinking that two PCC and the WLC was too much, but I'm ambivalent about taking two catas and no cannon, the WLC seems much better suited to taking down single model tough guys, monsters and lords and the such. On the other hand, the PCC are pretty nasty at taking down blocks, which will leave my PM to hammer on the rest. Here's a revised list that I was working on before you commented, although the slaves are a new addition based on your advice. 2250 Skaven Clan Pestilens MkII 1 Lord Skrolk, Plaguelord General 1 Plague Priest @ 310 Pts Magic Lvl2, Plague Furnace, Dispel Scroll Plague Furnace 35 Plague Monks @ 260 Pts Standard, Musician 1 Chieftain @ 120.0 Pts Battle Standard Bearer, Storm Banner 40 Skavenslaves @ 82 Slave Musician 40 Skavenslaves @ 82 Slave Musician 29 Plague Monks @ 248 Standard, Musician, Plague Banner 29 Plague Monks @ 218 Standard, Musician 8 Plague Censer Bearers @ 128.0 Pts 8 Plague Censer Bearers @ 128.0 Pts 1 Plague Claw Catapult 1 Plague Claw Catapult Models in Army: 194 Total Army Cost: 2246.0 |

ok man I can tell you this based off of personal experience (I too want a pestilence army) you have too many lords and hero's. You are WAY over the 25% limit which is why you are so short handed. So you gotta make a decision, what do you want the plague furnace or lord skrolk? |

While I will agree he has to much in caharacters,he is still under both the lord's and the hero's point limits. The probelm is moslty Skrolk, he just costs too much, but he is almost nessicary for fluff and getting PMs as core and, without chainging the list, is nessicary to get the 25% core minimum. |

yeah i agree... skolk is a poor man breakfast for a the price of a rich mans caviar. the 6th ed skaven plague lords were incredible... 6 attacks and frenzy but now they have toned everything down it is pretty sad. i would take a preist on furnace and a preist on foot then plenty of monks slave and PCBs with catapults if you are going for a theme... or if you would rather mix and match a abomb will help your furnace survive. and so would a grey seer. |

i have also read something (not sure it'll work very well I'm not so experienced) about a plague fornace whit a very big unit of plague monks and a banner of verminious scurry. It'll bring your fornace into cc very quickly and than you can go around their flanks whit other units. |
