I don't think Chitterfitz is right about combining weeping blades and str potion. Chitterfitz - are you referring to this part of the FAQ at the top of page 4: 'Does a magic Item or a spell that gives a bonus to a characteristic, do so bonus for all rules purposes (eg, the effect of spells, characteristic tests)? Yes, except for magic weapons or where the description of the item or spell specifically says otherwise' ? If you are then I think you read it wrong. Not that I blame you - in classic GW fashion, this was intended to clarify something and just raised several other issues (and it's written badly) I think this refers to something like the Giant or Ogre blade - attacks made with these weapons are at the increased Strength, but the bearer does not have an increased characteristic. Meanwhile, a potion of Strength DOES increase the imbiber's characteristic for tests, spells and of course, close combat attacks. |

phew... i was going to say. what a crock. so assassin with weeping blades and potion of strength will put a few wounds on kolek... doubt it will kill him... think he has 8 wounds or something or as everyone has said... brass orb his butt... best 65 points you could spend when kolek costs what... 600 odd. i think. |

I won't play it as that, for me is specifically says this. Magic items gives bonuses to things like ogre Clubs and Choppas, it does not however give bonuses to Magic weapons such as Spear of Antarhak (tomb kings) or Weeping blades, so on and for forth. Not trying to sound like a jerk but how would you read it? Do you mean that say i take sword of might and a tail weapon, Meaning the bonus from sword of might won't give the tail weapon the plus one. Cause if so me and you are reading this complete opposite ways. |

I'm inclined to read it the same way as desmondkenny, there is nothing that says the bonuses aren't cumulative. Think of it this way, the potion gives a temporary boost to the model's base strength, then the magic weapon augments this modified stat further. Makes sense from a fluff point of view too (not that that has any effect on the rules, it's just nice). As for the tail blade and sword of might, the description for tail blade states that it doesn't benefit from the magic weapon's rules, you just get an extra str3 attack in addition to your normal set. |

Thanks Warlock Yeah - the faq says that magic weapons (giant blade) don't give str bonuses for the purposes of spells and char tests. A potion of str is not a magic weapon. And the weeping blade does not give a bonus to str. So no harm no foul. Assassin special all the way! |
