Dealing with WOC

I am set to play a WOC player in a week or so. This particular player typically brings a large deathstar type unit of Chaos Warriors, and supports it with a Dragon. I don't know what he uses beyond that, but that is the core of the list. I was wondering what I should be looking to take to the table, and how to use it effectively to win the game.

I hope you can help me out.

Against that kind of deathstars I recommend you a Grey Seer with the Dreaded 13th plus a Power Scroll.

I would also suggest 2 WLC's and some Poison Wind Mortars.

Plus loads of Slaves. They're always great.

As I have had my fair share of losses against WOC (and more wins)
You will need:

1 grey seer with the 13th anda powerscroll
1 BSB
As many doomwheels as money can buy
Jezzails and even more Jezzails
Slaves
Slaves
Slaves
did I mention slaves?

As a matter of fact, all of our rare choices are great against WOC IMO.

Cannons... ignore AS and multiple wounds. (Nice targets... Giants, Shaggoths, Warriors, Chosen, Knights, Monsters...).
Plague Claw Catapult... the same, can be great against marauder blocks, and good against Warriors if you roll a lot of sixes.
Doomwheel... Zzzzap can be devastating. Giant? Roll good and he's gone.
Hellpit Abomination... Great against every army, actually.

Well, no. Neither the Doomwheel or the WLC is a good bet against Shaggoths, since they are immune to lightning attacks - it only makes them frenzied. The same goes for normal Dragon Ogres.

The only way I see of taking down these beasts reliably is by using Jezzails, or pinning them with slaves and using WFTs.

You could toss PWG Globes at 'em, especially if they are pinned down by slaves. That's my plan for a game against WoC tomorrow. ;)

Yeah, forgot about that Shaggoth rule.
Nevertheless, the Doomwheel and the Cannon ARE great choices against WOC. Despite Shaggoths (which, honestly, aren't very frequent these days... maybe in your gaming zone, not here though...).

Sure. We have tools to deal with all of those nasty deathstars. Hence, I guess we should be using them!

OP: You've added Slaves yet? Then take some more

lore of plague on the seer - no armour saves allowed really upsets them.
Daniel cannot possibly exist in a dimensional state.

Recent studies show that people who have attempted to comprehend Daniel have either disappeared, died spontaneously, or driven themselves into a pertinent state of insanity and/or catatonia.

What really upsets them if they are turned into rats without any save allowed :D

You can still have both the lore of plague and change one of those spells for the dreaded 13th.

shaggot lightining immunety is no more if i am not terribly mistaken (errata).

Get your Slaves&shields move towards em.

Then its your own way to kill them w your spells and shooting.

i advice you to get 2WLC. Doomwheel is optional but not the best option really, neither the catapult. WLC=slayed Dragon

A-bomb is an A-Bomb B)

Dont ewer forget to take PWG with a deathglobe on the champion. Give your enginner another globe at least. Death globes are devastating againest WoC.

And if you face with marauders, your slaves are killy enough to worry...
BTW you dont have to go with a power scroll, You can always cast the 13rd and you still dont have to cast it cuz you will win the game anyway ;)

Good Luck!
