Ok guys,

The rule says for any leadership based test something. what about the situations that i dont have to take a test for my leadership like a banshee scream? do i add my +3 to my base ld value or keep it around 5? :)

thx in advance!

the old rule was leadership-based test so could be argued for anything involving leadership. the new rule (errata) is just Leadership tests. so unless it says it's a Leadership test (panic, break tests, etc) then no you don't get SiN.

???
The 6th edition SiN and the 7th edition SiN are identical. They both say they add rank bonus for all Leadership-based test.

Also, brought to you direct from the Vampire Count FAQ:
Quote:

Q. Can Skaven use their Strength In Numbers bonus against the
Banshee’s Ghostly Howl? (p49)
A. Yes.

“A player is never late, Dave. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when the plot dictates he should.”
Skaven 7th:
W/L/D
6/5/2
High Elves:
2/3/1

not talking about past editions
the current printed army book says leadership-based test however the errata changes that sentence.

Page 33 – Strength in Numbers
Change the second sentence of the first paragraph to “Units
with the Strength in Numbers special rule add their current
rank bonus to their Leadership value for any Leadership test.”

i would say that the vampire count faq disagrees with the erratad rules, which doesn't really surprise me it's not the only place a faq disagrees with the rules. So if you want to abide by the faq then SiN can be used against specifically ghostly howl.

It's just a thing they maked not to make the banshee super-good against skaven.

Also, the Banshee howl goes to lengths to point out that pretty much anything that could influence your leadership (General included) works against the Banshee. The designers probably figure it would be unfair to deprive Skaven of a decent survival chance when everybody else has a good shot at it.

Can "Strength in Numbers" be used by a unit in a building? I thought yes, but have had a couple of opponents argue that they do not have "ranks" in buildings.

Again, do not care which way it is... just WTB some consistency! :-)

They are correct - units in buildings have no ranks, and thus no SiN bonus.
