ok now the infernal bomb is an item that i normally see in any army list that much and i can understand why cons - need an assassin to take it (150pts min) - the doom rocket is stronger and cheaper as it goes on a warlock - it can be avoided* *this can be used to your advantage however and to be honest i never used it but i was playing a couple of fun games in which my army included a triad of assassins as so decided to give it a go and i found it to be most useful. what i found was that its best method of use is not to cause outright damage but to create uncertainty and fear for your enemy much like a goblin fanatic. pros -hindering the enemies plan -protect certain sections of the board/valuable units. -can be exploded at any time in one of my games vs High elves, i first deployed it on at the bottom of a hill (which was our objective for the game) with a unit of scouting gutter runners and the assassin who then retreated back to the other side of the hill. now this caused him to redirect his unit that were heading for the hill and take a longer route round enabling me to get the hill first and control the game. now i never detonated the infernal bomb in that game but it did make winning the game a hell of a lot easier as my opponent was scared of attacking from the front of the hill. i have also used it to protect my bell unit by deploying it in front of it. i have also recently developed a new tactic for the bomb were it is used more aggressively in which the assassin and a unit off gutter runners deploy the bomb just in front of a unit who then stay within charge range but out of the templates range and if they get charged you blow up the device or if that doesn't work you stay within range of the bomb so they are more likely to charge you as you can't blow up the bomb so when you loose the combat which you most likely will you then flee out of the way of the bomb and if they pursue you blow the bomb up as they move over it, smoke bombs are advisable if you do this to make sure you get away safely. however there will be some armies out there such a warriors of chaos or dwarfs who will not be afraid of the device unless it assisted by magic or similar. but i am now using it in my standard list on an assassin with potion of strength as well so he can kill stuff which are not scared of the bomb for a turn or even some heroes. stained |

I really like this kind of analyse, a interresting objet that a lot of skaven never use. A surprise that can be nasty for some opponement. Add potion of strenght on this assassin in a unit of 6 Gutter Runners with Slings and Poison. Thanks for share this.

Scruitiss, he can't take potion of strength and infernal bomb as they both are enchanted items. I support this idea. it could be hard to play as you would have to know your opponents reactions but psychological it's great Thanksscarr |

are never really noticed that they were both enchanted items, oh well could possibly give him +1 strength sword or something similar, its not really essential but give him a bit more versatility i find glad you liked my analysis, used this tactic in a game the other day against orcs. Worked perfectly(almost) placed the bomb infront of a big unit of 40 orcs he wasted a turn trying to avoid it then went a rolled a 6 on his aminostity and landed straight on it i got 23 hits in the end and killed..3 not quite what i hoped but still the turn he wasted trying to avoid it enabled me to get my units in position for a flank charge so it all payed off in the end. stained |
