I just got the IoB set for my Birthday October 13th
Thats a good number for Skaven right? But why?
I have a number of other armies and have played for some years starting in the 5th edition.
So now I have some Skaven and will slowly build them up.
I am not sure what to do next besides get the Army book.
I was thinking about a mafia type theme for this army. What do you think?

Hi there! ^_^

The number 13 is basically the holy number for skaven: it was the number of times the bell rang in the 'Doom of Kavzar' tale, creating the Skaven race. The tale's in the army book.

My advice for building your army would be to read through the army book when you get it and see what units catch your eye. You may well find yourself drawn to a particular greater clan.

The mafia idea sounds interesting, and very original; I guess you would probably be using lots of Skryre equipment: ratling guns, warplock pistols, warpmuskets, globadiers (think molatov cocktails :globe: ).

And welcome to the tunnels :) Watch your back, there are a lot of sneaky characters here :P Like me... Boo! :ph43r:

So due to the fact that I was born on the 13th and the number 13 is basically the holy number for skaven, I must be destined to be a great Skaven general. Even though my numbers are small now, here in the tunnels I will slowly build a great rat host that the upper world will grow to fear.

I just got the army book yesterday and already have started my study.

Yes the Clan Skryre and the Clan Eshin both can be the base of my future rodent hords.
I have to say that the IoB Skaven models make up a better starter army than the HE's. With what I have from this set I have an 816 point Skaven list that is legal in the 8th. It will be easy to build up my Skaven from that.
The HE's only field enough core for 620 points and the Prince griffon model is too many points to use untill you have 1800 points. It's hard to build up a good HE army unless you get the battalion. I don't understand GW at all.
Actually I have the Dwarf set from Skull pass that would be a good match up in points with the Skaven IoB set. Just for grins a battle from "The war beneath the world"
