By making such a post I'm guessing that you are trying to make a point of some sort, so I hope you'd like to elaborate further and be open to discussion. Are you tired of seeing furnaces and abombs (because frankly I am a lil weary of them :P)? Did you not like a critique on your army list? Which aspect of the stuff here is uncreative repetition? Because granted, there are the stuff that tends to appeal the most (doomrockets, aboms, furnaces, bonebreakers, etc) and so get used the most, but I've come across some really off-centre stuff as well here (regardless whether they'd actually work), like plague priest cavalry and 100-strong slave units.

Still, it's still a new book and a new edition that most of us are still getting to grips with, so bear with us if we haven't broken the creative sound barrier yet. :P

I completely agree with scriv, and also if you are refering to the fact that sometimes the same discussions will get reposted/threadomanced, its also becuase we got tons of new people with IoB who do not know skaven well or how to navigate the site yet.

I did notice that alot of armies posted now look similar, but theyare all still different in their own ways, and are more helpful to the new members just starting than running something, say like a throt army. But as Scrivener said, once 8th is alittle older and everyone is more familliar with the rules is when more unique armies appear. I entered this community about a few months before 8th was released, and I ultimately stayed for the unique ideas I found here.

So maybe looking at the sight dailiy won't be your thing, but give it time.

Playing skaven to minimize randomness is like going to prom with your sister, you can do it if you really want, but in the end everyone will still laugh even if you do get lucky.

I always take at least one Warpfire Thrower. You can't always rely on your opponent to do massive damage to your troops. Sometimes, you just have to do a job yourself.

Wow, I'm really sorry you feel that way. There has been (it seems) a lot more traffic here at the site due to the fairly new Skaven edition not to mention the recent release of Island of Blood. You will inevitably see a number of things over and over again. It happens to anything new that comes out. But to say it's cookie cutter when you've only been here -at least- a month is a bit premature, don't you think?

I see absolutely no point to this thread.

I hate to break it to you, but most wargaming is "cookie cutter." With most armies you always take certain units and characters in EVERY list. Its just the nature of the beast. If you don't like it, tough doodoo.

Well I guess I could see this if all you look at is army lists and tactics. Lists for the most part look roughly the same, tactics on popular units get beaten into the ground and pop out in china. But theres some many other threads to browse that are very creative, such as the painting/hobby section. Really some great sculpts, conversions and paint jobs in there. Great place for inspiration.

And really this reply is very pointless since whom it is directed to will never read it...oh, well...not much of a loss IMO if he didn't like it here.
TRADE
I'm looking for Dark Eldar to convert into DE. Also looking for bretonnia lances and halberds. If anyone has any they would be interested in trading PM me and we can work something out.

"And, most vivid of all, there was the dramatic epic of the rats––the scampering army of obscene vermin which had burst forth from the castle three months after the tragedy that doomed it to desertion––the lean, filthy, ravenous army which had swept all before it and devoured fowl, cats, dogs, hogs, sheep and even two hapless human beings before its fury was spent. Around that unforgettable rodent army a whole separate cycle of myths revolves, for it scattered among the village homes and brought curses and horrors in its train."

Well I consider myself a relative newcomer and think this site is awesome. My only complaint is I wish there was more volume of posting :)

I've been trolling these boards for quite awhile as a non-Skaven player (Art of War - Know They Enemy) :D but to say the entire forum is repetitive and unoriginal or uninspired is lunacy. By far most of the forums (not including UE) are very repetitive but we are still confined to the inherent rules - both BRB and Skaven.

Good luck out there finding a Warhammer or any other wargaming forum that truly blows your mind. When you do find it, I hope you're wearing a helmet ... exploded brain matter is messy.

And BTW ... I like cookies ...

It's funny, because this is a forum. If you think more people need to diverge from 'the norm', surely the best course of action would be to stay on the board and try and convince people to change things around? Encourage less people to play whatever is percieved as 'cookie cutter'? Start a diary about an unconventional army diary or throw up some battle reports? If the forum is full of cookie cutter, we need a voice of dissent! Get out there and do it! Help make the forum a better place with your input! That's how forums work.

I can't venture an option on if people are encouraged to cut cookies around here - I've not been around the relevant parts of the board for ages. But I do know this is a great community to be a part of, and the bits of the board I frequent are alive and creative. By winging and quitting, you've only cheated yourself.
