I have a game coming up (2500 pts) and I am worried about how hard the Lizzies are going to be. I am mostly worried about his Slaan but I am wondering how you have found that we fare.... Thanks! |

Haven't faced them in the 8th. Cold blooded was always my biggest issue. It pretty much means you will have to kill them to the last reptile. |

Cracks Call is a game winner here. Artillery works pretty well at thinning out the blocks, mainly the Temple Guard. Pack a Power Scroll to power out a 13th Spell and to hopefully dodge the Cognition stopping your IF attempts at it. |

No expert or anything but I would aim every warmachine I have at his slann unit. It should be able to thin them down enough so that a warp lightning cannon can take out the big frog. |

Big time on this one. I once snatched a victory from the jaws of a draw by managing to put a cannon-shot into the frog on the last turn. Not even Temple Guard can keep him alive when there's only 4 left.

Lizards were my main army for about 6 yrs. so units you should worry about are Skink Skirmishers and Salamanders. Saurus really aren't that good without their skirmishers to screen, redirect and take out your support. At 1k I didn't field any saurus but fielded alot of skirmishers and hard flankers (cav). @ 2250 I had maybe 2 blocks of 30 saurus, ideally still didn't field any. Skinks are the veins of the army, take 'em out and long the saurus and there flankers (as skaven you should have enough giant infantry blocks to do this) and you win. Salamanders are a pain in the @ss, or so I've been told. A move and shoot WFT that wounds on 4s (yes only str 3, but move and shoot skirmisher means they can march and shoot) with a multi attack, fear causing monster behind it. Not fun. It is popular now to take a lone slann because of the miscast table, but either way there is a good chance that you'll be seeing the lore of life being fielded. I preferred the lore of death, but most people that I've heard take life. Skaven bonuses for beating Lizards. IMHO, loads of slaves (2+ 30-50 blocks) and general horde. Lizardmen have a hard time dealing with more than twice their number in troops and regiments. Jezzails or Globadiers if they have monsters and artillery. Just be sure to take out their skinks. Mutate: Another advantage we have is a good many of our attacks are magical. The Slann can take a discipline that makes him immune to all but magical attacks, and if he's running alone he most definitely has it. |

TRADE I'm looking for Dark Eldar to convert into DE. Also looking for bretonnia lances and halberds. If anyone has any they would be interested in trading PM me and we can work something out. "And, most vivid of all, there was the dramatic epic of the rats––the scampering army of obscene vermin which had burst forth from the castle three months after the tragedy that doomed it to desertion––the lean, filthy, ravenous army which had swept all before it and devoured fowl, cats, dogs, hogs, sheep and even two hapless human beings before its fury was spent. Around that unforgettable rodent army a whole separate cycle of myths revolves, for it scattered among the village homes and brought curses and horrors in its train." – The Rats In The Walls, H.P. Clanrat

I watched a game yesterday where another skaven player was fighting a lizard man army, there was a lone clan rat wandering the board. When questioned as to what was going on there the skaven played replied "Thats my Slann Rat." It turns out that the Slan was wandering around on his own and had the misfortune of being dread 13thed. |

correct me if im wrong but i thought the slann couldnt be 13th'ed as he wasnt an infantry model, same reason he cant become a dragon through transformation. |

I'm pretty sure the Slann IS an infantry model, otherwise he would get no Look Out Sir from his Temple Guard buddies. I must say, that is a truly hilarious use of the 13th. |

Page 485 of the BRB, Slaan is an infantry model. It is simply the Lizardmen FAQ that prohibits him from transforming. |

Yeah id go heavy into plague on my seer and use plague to get rid of big units of skinks and try to wither down units of saurus and then get into CC. dreaded 13th on his slann bunker is fully the way to go, you'll see T6-8 saurus with a poxy life slann (ignoring miscasts on a 2+) personally id try and go for a war of attrition with massive blocks of slaves. you can lose 6-7 slaves for each of his temple guard that u get lucky and kill

Lizards as far as I've faced them are pretty easy and simple, thought admittedly their magic capacity is a pain in the butt (the new Lore of Life is ridiculous!) Priority 1: Blast the Slann and his unit with everything. Thirteenth spell + power scroll is almost guaranteed to wipe out a good number of his Saurus/temple guard escort. Also, make those scaly-things take as many Initiative checks as you can. The brass orb and Cracks Call both are fantastic in that respect. Warp Lightning Cannons are superb for slaughtering Saurus, Slann, and Stegadons. Doomwheels also help with the whole Stegadon problem, but if you bring one you better have Howling Warpgale and/or the Storm Banner to support it such that it doesn't get the poop shot out of it by Skinks with poison. Cold-Blooded is quite scary, but the Sacred Banner of the Horned Rat usually fixes the problem to some degree. Wind Mortars and Warpfire Throwers are always good choices. Rat Ogres are nice and hard-hitting against the quite respectable Saurus infantry if you absolutely must decimate them in close combat or feel that your shooting is too unreliable. Good luck! |

The slann sounds like a Cracks Call and 13th magnet. I have a game against the lizards tomorrow. Most of the army I have an idea of what to do about, except I'm uncertain of the speedy skinks and that saurus hero. |
