hey guys. I am curious about this hell pit abomination. I don't have the rule book handy but i have been seeing all the conversion pics. Anyways i was curious, what size base does it have to be on. I am still awaiting my army book, but i have an old conversion for a rat spawn and it was put on a monstrous base, i think the same size base the rat ogres came on. It was converted from a spawn model and some rat ogre bits, so i was curious if it states what size base it has to be on. Most of the conversions i have seen seem to have there abominations on chariot/giant bases, but from what i have seen of its stats, it looks like an old rat spawn model stat wise. I was sort of hoping to be able to reuse this model in my army, but was curious, because if i have to use a larger base, then i will just end up having to make a new conversion and i guess i could turn my old rat spawn into a mutated bonebreaker or something or a plague priest or warlord. And yes i tried to do a search but i kept getting errors. |

There is no required base size - however, GW suggests it is used on a 60x100mm base (like the screaming bell). Entirely op to you though. |

Then general consensus around here is that as long as it on a 50x50 or larger it is fine. |

I too would go with chariot/SBell base, as this seems the right shape for the pic/ description of it, an oversived worm that is kinda rearing up and moves along on a cart! As for your rat ogre conversion, depending on exactly what it looks like you could use it as a ROgre champion, or prehaps as a bone breaker if you mount a War Lord on it... |

I personally based mine off the fluff of it coming from a giant blind worm, so mine are on 60x100 |

For gameplay purposes I'm not sure which would be best - one of the special attacks relies on B2B contact but at the same time you expose it to more attacks back by being bigger, so it's probably OK to have it whatever you choose. |

The sneaky advantage to going deep is placing it sideways during deployment and then pivot it in your first turn, which gives you about 1" or 2" of movement. When flanked you'd wish it was only 50mm. |

Thanks guys. That helps alot. I guess i will wait for my book and start working out ideas for a proper hellpit abomination. I guess my old mutated rat will just be an improved rat ogre. Oh well he will look orginal none the less. |
