My new hobby; WHFB's Skaven

Greetings, fellow ratlings,

Recently, some of my friends decided to dust off their WHFB armies, and start playing after over 7 years. They let me play a game too and I decided Warhammer will be a great new hobby for me. I like something really time consuming and diverse.

A Skaven army will be a good choice for me, given the following:

- None of my friends are playing it, I will be facing Empire, Wood elves, High elves, Chaos Daemons and Tomb Kings.
- Zounds of expendable units, swarming all over the board.
- Random machinery that can blow up everything and everywhere. Turning the tide of battle with a single shot, weither it explodes in my face or in the enemy's.

So it's Skaven time! Hope I have a good time here. First will need to plow over all the rules and make a nice army list!

Greetings and welcome to the time consuming, money draining world of warhammer where you can start that one ambition all of us deeply have inside of us... world domination!

On a more serious note: You should check out our army list section where you can see some examples of army lists and do some inspiration for your own list (or simply copy one that sounds good...)

Also since your friend plays high elves it could be a great way to start out by buying the new isle of blood box together, which contains both skaven as high elves units and also everything else you'll need to play (dice, templates, measuring stick and a rule book).

Enjoy your stay!

Why thank you good sir Gentlerat,

The IoB box has indeed been a great incentive to start. Got the box yesterday, and I am very content. The models look great! Might buy a second one, haha :D

I have been looking on this and several other sites for a nice armylist, eventually made a 1k list, but was awaiting the rulebook in IoB to see if it was according to the rules, since most lists I saw where for 7th edition. Will post it soon.

If you want to know if your list is according to the rules you should insert it in an army list spreadsheet I've made which you can find here.
Please do note that it's not entirely accurate if you've included giant rats in your list as I've made a mistake and need to update the spreadsheet (for which I've currently not yet found the time/will for to do so).
