Exploding slaves and pursuit; Overrun, or not?

I'm terribly sorry if this has been up elsewhere (i suppose it has), but a question that has come up in earlier games I've had is whether or not the opponent can pursue a unit of slaves that has exploded?

After all, they do in some manner break from combat, but the wording in the armybook says that they are to be removed "as if they had just been wiped out in close combat". Due to this wording, I think the proper ruling to be applied on the unit that was to pursue is the "wiped out" ruling, according to which you only get a free reform.

How do you guys play it? Any paragraph you can point me to to give some clarity?

the unit(s) that won combat are treated as having destroyed the opponent. So if they charged that turn they can make an overrun, otherwise they are limited to the reform.

Great, that's how I've played it, though my opponent was questioning it with things like "but they ARE running somewhere" and the likes. Oh well, thanks!

No, they're not running 'somewhere'. 'Somewhere' implies directionality. The slaves are running EVERYWHERE! So if your enemy wants to pursue those 12 rats in 12 independent directions at once they are free to try. :lol

Seriously though, Stripsteak is precisely correct.
“A player is never late, Dave. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when the plot dictates he should.”

Books not in front of me at the moment but I believe the cornered rats rule states at the end of it that the opponent can act as if you flee'd or something along those lines.

No, it says the slave unit is removed as if it had been wiped out in close combat
