Hey guys, So tomorrow I'm going to be playing against my cousin's HE for the first time with Skaven in 8th. We're gonna be going 1k points and I'm having difficulty setting my priorities against him. One saving grace is that his crap is usually S3 T3, however the ASF + re-rolls is worrying. What would you suggest I plan against? Rather, what would be the most important thing to try and neutralize against him? Unfortunately I have no idea what his list is, but I think the mystery adds to the cheesy goodness. |

Pinky: "Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?" Brain: "The same thing we do every night, Pinky—try to take over the world!"

I'm coming at this from a completely noob stance, but from what I know about the HE's, their magic is pretty powerful, perhaps even at 1k. Anything you can do to neutralize his mage(s) should be good. That is, if he takes any. If he doesn't (though I don't see why he wouldn't), and you happen to take magic, you've got a pretty good upperhand. |

Ya at 1k your magic might a a bit below par, but I haven't played high elves for a couple years so I'm not a good reference to that department. If you can squeeze the point I'd say bring along a Plague furnace to really abuse that low elf toughness. Other than that my only advice would be to steer clear of anything in the caliber of doomwheels or hell pits. |

Well the doomwheel isn't terribly good against block units, unless if he maybe happens Silver helms that potential strength 10 lightning would be nice against the armour. Hellpit would be useful as well but it tends to make for unhappy enemies. ![]() Be careful if you take either of them thought, their erratic movement makes it hard to do anything more tactical than throwing them at the toughest thing you see. Don't expect to achieve many flank/rear charges with them. |

honestly at that sized game i would say you will have no dramas. elves are expensive... really expensive for guys that skaven can kill. take hordes of slaves give them slings and spears in units of 50 or so and put a warlock engineer into them. to kill the engineer he will have to get into combat and once he is in combat with 50 spear armed slaves with anything short of cav his guys will drop like flys. magic is good especially at low levels but your best to ignore it. my advice for your list. 3 units of 50 slaves all with spears a bsb with something cheap like banner of underempire cheap general warplightening cannons. 2 wouldnt be too many. lol. and whatever else takes your fancy. keep slaves within range of bsb and you should slaughter him. |

more than WLC take plague claw catapulte against toughness 3 they really shine. you can hit 2 units at the same time with that big template and LD 8 panic test are not so easy to roll. off topic : I am fond of your avatar, great minds think alike mutate : also plague monk can be effective particulary with the pestilence banner (RR of to hit and to wound dice) for exemple against a 20 spearelfs (190pts with banner) , a 21 monk unit with the banner (7*3)(187pts with the pestilence banner) will take 6 wound from the 20 attack and deal 10.5 wound from the 28 attacks on the first turn of combat |

Brain : "Come we have work to do." Pinky : "Oh, right. Taking over the world and all." Brain : "No , Pinky. Tonight we must save the world." Pinky : " Eh , gad , Brain . Save the world??????" Brain : "YES!!! So it is available to take over tomorrow night."

echoing advice above me. elves are flimsy drown them in numbers. HE are WS 4 or better across the board. WS 2 vs 4 is the same as 3vs 4 so our slaves can put as much hurt into them as clanrats, for a lot cheaper. you should be able to get horde+steadfast against them pretty easily as well. And heck if the slaves break they can still put a dent in the elves. I might suggest some giant rats too to hit in the flank and disrupt his ranks. Also a warpfire thrower could be good too, it's less likely for him to bring a banner at this point level, they are pretty expensive for them 110pts for a naked bsb. So anything that can cause panic checks is pretty nice, they'll be ld8+ but it's better then fighting dwarfs ![]() |

take a hellpit abomination. do it, just do it for jokes. u just placing a gigantic monstrocity on the table to focus all of his army at and just overwhelm him with pure numbers. |
