Hey all, I've been playing Fantasy for a while now. I have an Ogre and Lizardman army looking to go evil. A friend and I are each buying the new battle box in Sept and splitting the models, I am getting the Skaven. So thats a good chunk of clan rats and rogers. I just made a trade for a box of Stormvermin and the Bell/furnace box (both NiB current models) I am thinking my next buy should be a battalion box (bringing my total clan rats to 100 if rumors are correct) I really like the doomwheel so will probably get that sooner or later. Any thing else that should be a priority for me to get? runners? assassins? Let me know what you think. Most of my games are friendly but I do get involved in a tournament once a year so I would like to make a list that is flexible. Thanks |

gutter runners w/ slings. they are awesome. they disrupt the enemy's plans from the get go, and are great against war machines and lone characters. deff. need to pick some up |

Either convert or buy a Warp Lightning Cannon. It's cheap (under 100 points), and potentially devastating. Especially now with no range guessing. Abombs are fun to have but if you mostly play friendly games you might wanna leave him at home. = ) G Runners are pretty nasty but expensive in large amounts. Globadiers I have never had a good experience with. Good luck, and remember to laugh when you stuff explodes/goes wrong. |

Get a box of Night Runners. You'll have spare heads from the plague monks, put those on the NR bodies and do a little extra work: ka-tching you've got yourself gutter runners and assassins! Both great troops, and Gutter Runners really aren't expensive for what they do. With slings and poison attacks you've got 18" shooting and good close combat, scouting and sneaky infiltration for a low 90 points, that's about equal to all the war machines they'll take out, plus it'll distract your opponents shooting a bit (not knowing whether to focus on the GRs or other targets which will beat his CC up. I haven't had much luck with PWGs, but I like the PWM which can accompany them. I HAVE used a PWG Champion (bombardier) with a Brass Orb once, and that took out some good amounts of heavily armored dangerous dwarfs, but otherwise they just miss and kill themselves. They're a whole lot of fun though, so I like to field them. You should seriously concider the Plague Claw Catapult. S2 hits may not seem much, but as everything wounds at max 6's now, and your opponent won't get armor saves. A good hit on T3 models, and you'll effectively pick out about 1/3 of the unit. |
