Warlord
So I had some thoughts while writing up some lists for 8th and wondered if you all had the same issues.

Before our latest book I always ran a warlord list, when the new book came out I saw the use of a Grey Seer so swapped to him as my general. Now the most horrible thing has happened...8th came out and now I can take both **GASP**

While this doesn't look like a bad thing (it really isn't) your old general selection really forced you to choose what army play-style you were going to select when writing the list. Now that we have the option (and ability) to take both are people finding it hard to figure out what you want to do with your army play-style wise?

The other issue I am debating is if a Grey Seer is required for decent magic? What do we gain from bringing a Grey Seer that we do not accomplish with 2 Lvl 2's?

These were some of the thoughts that I have had running in my head after a few 8th test games and wanted to see if others were having the same debates.

In our LGS a Grey Seer is not optional. Big magic is a fascination and the +4 to dispel is mandatory at this point.

Of course you can run Seer + Warlord on Litter and equip both reasonably and still be good as low as 2000 points. It might leave you feeling a bit thin elsewhere on the table.

The debate I am having right now is whether or not I want to bring the Warlord. I'm not sure that an Assassin is going to survive long enough to replace a solid unit of Clannies and that means that a Warlord is the most likely candidate for a hitty character that we've got (or maybe I am just spoiled by my other army, WoC, where hitty is *really* hitty). I'm wracking my brain, but I don't think there's any way to focus on a Screaming Bell without template weapons which means that I can make a Grey Seer on Bell much more durable than I used to be able to... That means that the swap I am making is more Bell vs. Warlord with a Seer being mandatory....

I love the greyseer as general, and a felblade warlord in a big unit of clanrats for monster hunting.

The felblade is usable now that you dont have to worry about your general popping before he even does anything.

I was using a seer and warlord together and find it a nice dynamic. Since I think that the bell is still overpriced, adding a seer with maybe just a dispel scroll is great because it allows me a very powerful magic phase with only costing a bit and really I don't even have to change my playstyle very much. Now rather than being a list that focuses on magic, its like adding a single wlc to a combat list. It helps put some ranged pressure on but you can still do other things too.

The next thing I'm gonna try though is just a seer and an assassin replacing the warlord. So I will have my seer as the general and a more cost-efficient option for a combat character and I can still build pretty much whatever style list I want.

Also, one thing that seers get you that two level 2s don't is access to the 13th spell. Which is obviously huge since its now a lot easier to cast. And instead of adding +2 to cast and dispel, you get to add +4 which is also a pretty big difference. So far a single naked seer has been my mvp for most games and I find has been the best points I've spent anywhere in my lists.
