hey fellow vermin, Had my first 8th ed game yesterday, vs dwarves which was very enjoyable, it did however bring up a few issues. we played the 6th scenario with the watch tower in the middle with the dwarves defending it. (thank god I wasn't defending, my army didn't have a unit of 20 to go into it!? what happens then?) Anyway after a dire first turn where my warlord lead stormvermin attempted to charge the watchtower with the defending dwarves and rolled double one!! and magic failed to work rolling 24 for 13th spell not miscast though On turn 2, my stormvermin with warlord attempted to charge again and rolled a 1 & a 2!!! During this magic phase I rolled 24 for 13th spell again!!!! But I rang the bell with 3 dice and got 15? ( the one that destroys buildings on 4+ - peals?) Anyway, this killed 16 of the 20 dwarf's as the building collapsed!!! But here's the thing, there is no mention destroying buildings in the brb??? cannons, stonethrowers etc. can't scratch a building or wall in a siege but skaven have crack's call and the result on the sb that can? We were looking at each other going what happens now, are the ruins of the watchtower still captureable? we assumed they were, but wasn't 100% sure. others observations Abom is still awesome especially when u roll 5 twice (avalanche of flesh) in 2 rounds of combat against 20 gw armed dwarves. when slaves explode, can the guy who charged them overrun? assume yes, just checking? liked 6 strong rat ogre unit, question though, in combat, you remove stuff from back, does this mean the packmasters always die first, or do u get to chose when it a mixed unit? can the thirteenth spell be cast into close combat? If the gs on a bell does it make a difference? cannon ball shot at bell, can't kill guys pushing it as well (in the same shot) can it? any thoughts? later, itik p.s. oh yeah, gs got 13th spell off with 5 dice in last turn of game! 3 ones and 2 sixes!! killed 17 dwarves!! a crazy but fun first game! |

You played take and hold the ruin lol. Yes cracks call can destroy buildings. You can over run from a slaves explosion if it is the first round of combat and the attacker charged if the slaves charged them and exploded they can not over run. You can only remove models that can be attacked. Pack masters can not be attacked from the back so you must remove rat ogres. If you pass the save vs the cannon ball it stops dead. It would have been very funny if you turned all the 20 dwarfs in the tower into skaven lol. Hope that helps. |

Yeah, they never do take into account that Skaven like to blow up pretty much everything in sight. Including objectives. I'd say blow up the building and fight over what's left of it.
If they charged the same turn as the slaves explode, yes. If not they get to stand around wondering what happened.
In combat with mixed units, the enemy can only kill the kind of models he can reach. If they're only in contact with Rat Ogres they'll only ever kill Rat Ogres.
Can't be cast into close combat. It's possible (I think) that a Seer could cast it while in combat though. Not sure though, there aren't that many large target casters to go by.
From what I hear, an 8th edition cannon ball stops if it fails to kill something in its path. So if it doesn't break the bell in apart, no it can't kill the pushers. Unless of course he's firing THROUGH the pushers (say, down your flank) to get to the bell. Then he could kill a few rats before hitting the bell, and maybe a few after if he blew the bell up. |

yeah it would be worth knowing either way, will skaven spells be given a type like, direct damage, hex etc.?
yeah, still not sure about this. Something in my head tells me I read something about you decide to shoot a unit pushing or the bell. not both, but i could still be thinking of 7th ed. in this regard. back to the tome for more research..... :rolleyes: thanks for your replies, stills baffles me that cannons, stone throwers etc can't damage building/walls but along come the skaven and they wreck the gaff!! later, itik |

cannonball only stops if it hits Monstrous infantry, monstrous cavalry, monstrous beast or monster. sadly bell is a special mount and does not belong to one of those unit types, so the ball will go trough the bell into the pushing unit. (p. 133 BRB) (edit chanded typo) |
