i was looking through the book and checking to see what a rat ogre mount look out sir would be. i couldnt find anything about it being a 4+ (what the rumor was). all i could find is that if you are the same base size or "fit" into the unit you get a look out sir. it doesnt say anything about a 4+ unless you are out side of the unit and within 3 inches. so if i put a ROBB in a unit on a 40mm base does he get the normal lookout sir? or does he get no look out sir? and if this is the case what about a horse in an infantry unit do they get a look out sir? if anyone can help me out and give me page numbers or reference to what i need it would be great.

It was a rumour that doesn't exist. Nothing in the army gives a bonebreaker warlord a look out sir.

Silly GW overlooking obvious things. This one is a pretty glaring oversight, because it essentially invalidates Monstrous Cavalry Heroes. That is, assuming you object to the idea of your 350 point Khornate Chaos Lord getting one shot off of his 50 point Juggernaut. :P

what about just regular mounts? is there no lookout sir for anything mounted other than our war litter because it says gets a look out sir?

Wait, why wouldn't he get the los roll if he was in a unit of rat ogres that were six strong? I don't have the brb with me but I thought I remembered it saying if you were in a similar unit to your base, you get it.

Same unit type - base size has nothing to do with it. Warlord on bonebreaker is monstrous cavalry so unless joined to monstrous cavalry, he's hooped (rat ogres are monstrous infantry).

War litter is infantry, so you get a look out sir in infantry.

I don't think it's an oversight. I think it's specifically for keeping those kind of characters from being able to simply join an infantry unit with no downsides over having them on foot. Eliminates the "There's no reason not to" choices.

" However, Bonebreakers have another mark against them now. Going up a hill can kill your warlord if you roll bad. Should call them Neckbreakers

It isnt to bad for the daemons, but IIRC WoC are in the same boat as us, without any other monstrous cav to give them a LOS roll.

The problem isnt keeping them safe in an infantry unit, but rather keeping them safe at all. Now they dont get a LOS roll at all.

You need to ask your manager to find the rule that says that in the book. ;)

I agree.

I spent half an hour trying to look this up in the new rulebook. From what I found, the "4+ LOS" only exists when you have a character within 3" of a unit of the same type (so for instance, an Infantry listed General will get a 4+ LOS when within 3" of an Infantry listed unit). If he's IN a unit of the same type, its a 2+ LOS. If the types differ (for instance, mounted General in/near infantry unit) then the General DOES NOT GET A LOS! :(

Pretty much bones the Bonebreaker mount choice (and Pox Rat, for that matter) right there. Which is a shame. I liked my little ROgre mount...
You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again?

yeah i haven't found a rule saying you can get a look out sir unless you are the same type. oh well you get in combat that much faster now you shouldn't be sniped to easily...
Assassin kill toll: 1 oldblood, 1 vampire lord, 2 chaos lords, Bretonnian lord, 3 Minotaurs and numerous champions with overkill. An ever growing list!

Just have to make good use of Rat Ogre speed and all the new recommended amount of terrain then. Not ideal, but should be able to protect him in most situations if careful. There's no way I'm not using my Bonebreaker after the effort that went into converting him!

but then he cant be picked out by basic shooting can he?

i dont see any prob with it if that is the case. always thought it was stupid when an enourmous rock fell from the sky and the character in the front just happens to be pushed aside.

4+ Ward, Worlds edge armour, Sword of Antiheroes and a shield should see the Bonebreaker through all but the most concentrated barrage of cannons and stone throwers
