Well to start things off today I got my first chance to Garrison a building I was really excited seeing how units in buildings are very hard to get out and the unit that charges dose not lock you in combat. Let me tell you my high hopes were crushed when I found out YOU DO NOT GET RANKS IN BUILDINGS and my unit got chopped to bits this was the start of my downward spiral for the day. So on that note how do skaven take/hold building? Could a screaming bell/furnace fit inside with its unit? What happens if I Cracks Call and destroy the damn objective building so I don't have to worry about it? |

The cracks call would probably be a good call. Without looking up any rules the skaven are probably hosed for the most part with buildings. You could always put some PCBs in the building as they dont need ranks as much as everyone else. You could also use a unit of jezzails or a weapon team.

In my experience, Skaven strategy relating to buildings (when ignoring them isn't feasible) should take one of two forms. 1) use it as a gunner-nest. Jezzails will love this function, Gutter Runners probably won't mind either. 2) Use Cracks Call or a Ring from the Screaming Bell to blow it up. I once leveled a small settlement of four buildings in a single turn with a Screaming Bell. |

Have you considered using a bunch of slaves? RBRB pg 126, under 'ONLY ROOM FOR ONE', says a building can hold a single unit of any size, plus any characters that have joined it. So if you can only fit one unit, and there's no limit on the size of that unit, why not just make it a unit of 50+ slaves? When assaulting a building, each side may only nominate 10 models to fight, and none but those 10 can be killed. So, assuming that you hold, which you can be reasonably sure of with either your General nearby, or with a decent Ld lord or hero in the building with them, a unit of 50 slaves could hold a building for 5 turns of assaults, assuming that all 10 slaves die every turn. Not a sure bet to hold the building obviously, but more bodies equals better chance of holding it. Alternately you could use clanrats for their superior Ld (so you wouldn't feel required to keep your General nearby or another character in the unit, maybe just a BSB), and for their slightly increased killing power, to maybe reduce the amount by which you lose each assault. |

Some one would cast the death spell on the character and kill him then the slaves would explode.

Nope slaves wouldn't work, ranks don't work in buildings so that would be double ones to hold (would of lost combat by 10). Also I lost the building to phoenix Guard... |
