General Mayhem

This board is here for any and all Out Of Character discussion and signing up.

THE PLOT:
The Eight Colleges of Magic have, for quite some time, maintained a steady alliance. And for good reason - other than some shifty ethics and the occasional errant fireball, they all have no real excuse to distrust one another. However, as shrouded in mystery as they are, wizards have never been the most trusting of folk, and it wouldn't take too much to push them over the edge...

The wealthy Lord Brakentov of Kislev has long been a patron of the colleges, supplying plentiful funding for longer than many can remember. Recently, his health has been waning and he has requested to see some of the younger students to prove that the colleges still uphold the good teaching he once saw in them and caused him to give them money.

Not wanting to disappoint, one novice from each of the colleges has been selected to be presented to Brakentov. They're by no means the greatest practitioners of their arts, as they are only beginning to muster their powers, but they show promise. They will be accompanied by some of the higher-up members of their respective colleges, and they will be travelling by flying galleon (wizards have always loved a good entrance).

Our story begins with these students of magic, soaring through the air. However, the winds of magic blow oddly today - a clear sign of something soon to come...

CHARACTERS:
Players will choose one student to play as. There is one main restriction on characters - no character is permitted to be based on the stereotypes of their magic. So no hot-headed, fiesty Pyromancers and no brooding dark Necromancers.

These are students - they're not even Level 1 wizards yet. You will not be able to cast the Purple Sun of Xerxes, nor immolate your foes with a snap of your fingers.

I'll fill in the characters here as they sign up. Both Light and Fire are taken by myself and my brother Major Panic (who will be helping me run this) respectively.

Fire - Heinrich Reinheit (Major Panic)
Beasts - Alfred von Reitzmann (Morkskittar)
Metal - Silas Marnim Kang (Silas)
Light - Selene d'Ayon (General Mayhem)
Life - Alicia Delaine (Blader)
Heavens - Aizen Phantomhive (UnderTheEarth)
Shadow - Gerard Venkmann (Warlock Matik)
Death - Ijiasu Kaneka (Rakchew)

RULES:
This will be a free-form roleplay - no rolling of dice or purchasing equipment for points. Your character will develop by narrative, and grow through time. We won't just stick to the 7 spells per lore as set out by the rulebook - we would only just manage one of those anyway. Rather, the Lore of Life acolyte will be able to control plants to a certain degree, or heal small wounds.

Please don't be stupid. No 'zomg KABOOM I win' or even 'He snapped his fingers and they burst into flame'. Magic will be one of the leading forces in this roleplay, so keep it in check. Similarly, don't expect every sword blow to cleave a head or every trap to be successfully averted. Keep within you're character's limits.

Finally, do try to enjoy yourselves. You will be fighting for the opposite side during this roleplay, but don't you worry yourselves, our furry friends will be popping their snouts up soon enough. ;)

The Tunnel's Resident Rodent Ecologist

Alfred von Reitzmann

Alfred von Reitzmann was born to a terribly rich family in the city of Altdorf. When he was young, he was tested for magic, like other of his age, but nothing was found in him. He then went about his life normally, training to be a noble, as he was the eldest son of the Baron Theodred von Reitzmann.

It wasn't until he was almost ten that the magic hit him. Alfred, being a pampered baron-in-training, was throwing a tantrum at one of his servants for pressing his clothing the wrong way when the birds in the courtyard outside, as well as the rats and mice and snakes infesting the manor, all came to his aid, flying in through the window and scurrying in through the cracks in the room. They beset the target of the boy's anger, causing the servant to run through the manner shrieking.

Alfred was amused by this discovery of his power, and tried to keep it a secret for as long as he could, letting his wild magic loose to torment and play tricks on the servants. He could only keep this up for a few months, however, before his father found him. His father became angry at his son, especially because now he was obligated to send him to the Schools of Magic and lose an heir.

Alfred was deeply upset by this turn of events, and became depressed and mopey, and rejected the animals when they came to comfort him. He hated animals and the outdoors - he only tolerated them because he could use them to amuse himself.

He was again tested for magic, and this time it came out positive - for beast magic. His father shipped him off to the Colleges of Magic without saying another word, and disowned him of all but a modest (but still hefty) living allowance. Since then, Alfred has been training at the colleges, albeit unwillingly. He believes that his life, so clearly set out before him, was ruined by something he had no control over, and now he is being forced to go outside and forego his pretty silk clothes and jewelry to master the beast (he is also mortally afraid of snakes, lizards, wolves, bears, and bunny rabbits). He hates his life and is rather depressed all the time - especially around animals. He still has a slight mischievous spark that is every once in a while rekindled, and he will usually do all he can to cause trouble, but his heart isn't into it anymore the way it used to be.

He was chosen to go on the journey to Kislev by the Amber College because of the hidden potential deep inside of him. Those who can sense and view magic can now see deep inside of him a vast store of potential magical energy, that he just needs to tap into. He is a natural at magic, and is only "average" because he does not put his all into it. The Amber College believes that by, in part appealing to Alfred's inflated sense of self-importance and in part by forcing him to be a representative of the College, that his inner potential will be unlocked, and then he will be fully realized as a truly powerful apprentice wizard.

Appearance: Alfred is rather small, with flowing reddish-brown hair down to his neck, about eighteen years of age. He has deep blue eyes and a few frckles scattered around his carefully taken care of an unblemished face, and is fond of wearing loose silk clothing with puffy sleeves, ornate jewelry (especially necklaces), and wears a ring on each finger all of the time, each one gold inset with precious stones. He hates getting dirty and spends much of his free time bathing and moping.

Personality: Alfred is a very bitter person. He hates his life and his magic, and hates animals and the outdoors. He resents magic for taking away the life that he wants so badly, and only cooperates because he sees no better way. He is not a bad student, but his heart isn't in it. He also believes that everyone else is beneath him, and mostly not worthy of his full attention (he frequently calls his peers "peasants," which always gets him in loads of trouble). He is mischievous and has a mean streak, and will taunt and play pranks on people - but this is more reflex than anything; he no longer takes joy in it. He is also very defensive and will not tolerate disagreement; it is only with the greatest degree of patience that he can stand his mentors.

Magic: Alfred is an average student, but within him somewhere is a vast hidden potential, that his mentors believe he can use if he can overcome his mental and depressive issues. At the moment, when he focuses or is experiencing great emotion distress, he can summon small beasts and animals to his aid, from mice up to cats and small dogs (the only animals he doesn't mind summoning are birds, as he envies their flight). He also has the ability to imbue himself with some of the characteristics of other animals, such as some of the strength of a bear, some of the stealth of a wolf, some of the grace of an elk, some of the senses of a rabbit, and some of the speed of a horse. Of course, he cannot attain the full power of that creature, but can augment his abilities. He also has mastered the spell The Beast Cowers, and can, with concentration, inflict a sense of terror and fear upon a single person.

Possessions: A sizeable living allowance, lots of silk clothing and rich jewelry, and a thin silver dagger. Also a rather dashing hat with a bright yellow feather.

Name:Heinrich Reinhart
Gender: Male
Lore: Fire
Age: 17
Homeland: Gutenstadt, Ostermark
Posessions taken: His Pistol (Due to his fire magic, he doesn't need external ignition for his powder. Thus, his pistol doesnt have a trigger; its just a metal tube with a wooden butt. This means it cannot be used against him, except as a club. He can use the gun without powder, but its power is significantly reduce (would be strenth 3 in game without armour piercing), extra powder and pellets, His Sword (Dubbed Reinigen , his day to day knife. His sleevless dark red (almost Maroon) wizards robe, his black Wide brimmed hat. His study journal, his Notebook, Ingleheims Immolation For Acolytes: Volume 3, Reldernachts The Symphony of Destruction: A History of Bright Mages , an enchanted inkless quill. He carries his books, the majority of his spare powder and pellets and his quill in a standardised Fire-proof and water resistant Bright college Knapsack

Appearance: Heinrich dies his short cropped hair, eyebrows and close goatee his natural black regularly, as he beleives that the red-headedness caused by his education could lose him the element of suprise against a foe. He often wears the tall, wide brimmed hats associated with Witch-hunters, oppenly declaring his association in defiance of his less enthused peers. Heinrich is of average height and is athletically built, more wry of muscle than bulky, and being well practised in pistol and sword like his father always wanted him to be. He often wears an intense, studied expression, and tries to give little away in his expression. Like many other Fire wizards, he regularly draws formulae onto his arms in order to better remember them.

Personality: Heinrich is devoutly religious to his God, Solkan the Avenger. He doesnt sepperate the values of Justice and Vengeance, and is quick to judge, if not act on what he perceives as wrong. Like his parents, he isnt one to shoot first and ask questions later, and he also understands that its not his place to punish those around him; yet. He one day hopes to be a Witchhunter like his parents, albeit a magically inclined one. Heinrich is slow to speak, quick to listen and always willing to offer impartial advice when he thinks he has all the facts straight. Whilst judgemental, he usually keeps his reservations to himself, observing and reassessing his assumptions constantly.

Abilities: Heinrichs magic isnt particularly powerful yet, but he excells at dispelling and rarely mucks up his own magic. Whilst his fireballs arent particularly strong, they are unerringly accurate and rarely miscast. He manages to keep a cool head even in stressful conditions, allowing him to mostly avoid major miscasts.

Background: Herbert and Hilde Reinhart, two of Ostermarks most devout worshipers of Solkan the avenger (being part of the 'moderate' (relative to other Solkan worshippers) Equitus sect) and foremost witch hunters had been partners for around two months when the both agreed that Marriage was the most sensible course of action.

Displaying an unusual lack of foresite, both were shocked when they realised that Hilde's oncoming pregnancy would soon halt her witch-hunting ability; quickly, they purchased a cottage in the small, uncorrupt (they made sure of that) township of Gutenstadt. Herbert was granted the position of Captain of the watch by the Mayor.

The fearsome reputation of the Reinharts should not confuse the reader from the truth; whilst both were stern, judgemental individuals they were in their own way both fair and reasonable. Whilst burning with hatred of all uncleanliness they had no wish to commit injustice themselves and brutally scrutinised targets before determining their innosence or guilt.

Both, too, were devoted and dutiful, if not warm parents as Heinrich was growing up. They drilled into him a sense of Duty and responsibility, and were quietly proud of how seriously Heinrich attempted to be the perfect child.

However, around his twelth year Heinrich began to exhibit some disturbing traits. He could occasionally be found mumbling under his breath, staring into thin air, and when roused and questioned would have no recolection of such activities. People reported that the air around him was warmer than elsewhere, and the last straw was when once, when Hilde rushed to wake Heinrich from a nightmare, discovered that when he awoke his eyes were luminescent.

Both fearful of chaos, but loving their child the Reinharts immediately decided to send their son to a college of magic. They were suspicious of such organisations, and indeed all practitioners of magic, but infinitely preffered their son to be taught how to utilise his powers for good as oppose to be devoured by the creatures of chaos. Their first choice would have been the College of Light, but their fee's where to high. Due to a high turnover rate, the College of Fire was much cheaper.

Heinrich was glad to go, also being quite afraid of his immortal soul being devoured. He left, and promised to return one day, a fully trained battle wizard willing to pit his own talents against the evils of dark magic; A Wizard Witch hunter.

He was not immediately accepted by the college, as his natural gifting was mediocre. After careful observation, he was deemed to be of some magical ability, but wasnt expected to go very far. The college masters were proved wrong, however when Heinrich compensated for his magics doubtful strength with quiet, solid and effficient study.

Whilst other students were engaging in duels or blasting apart dummies willy nilly, Heinrich focussed on perfecting his art. His progress was often slower than the more naturally gifted students, and his sombre, puritanical ways often alienated him from the more rambunctious fire acolytes. In his third month, this earned him the attention of a older student, who atempted to Hex Heinrichs cloak to catch fire. The Young Reinhart amazed all at that time, by not only dispelling the attempt with the contemptuous ease of a trained master, but also answering it with a perfectly controlled cage of flames, which surrounded the shocked older student without harming him for the five minutes it took for Heinrich to calmly walk away.

Whilst Heinrich fainted and was comotose for three days after this event, it was none the less quickly noticed. Whilst other students were able to throw fireballs in fits and starts, Heinrichs progress was unusually stable and consistant; his superior theoretical knowledge allowed him to make the most of what the winds of magic made available to him, and not once did he set himself on fire.

Thus, he was selected to represent the college to the esteemed Kislevite noble, the college of fire quite willing to demonstrate that not all its students were drunken, partying pyromaniacs more likely to hurt themselves than a beastman, depending on how close they were standing to it. A cautious, immaculate Pyromancer whose devotion to studies was only surpassed by his duty to Virtue would be presented to Brakentov, who would surely be assured that his trust in the Loremasters of flame was well earnt.

Morkskittar - It's great to see your speedy response, but I'm not sure about your character. I probably didn't make it clear enough, but I put in the characters section that your character shouldn't be the stereotype for it's Lore. I think that your character is a bit close to the Beast Lore stereotype.

Silas - I'll put your name down.

Here's my character:

Selene d'Ayon

History

Selene was born into a noble household of Altdorf, and in the presence of adults she has been sickly sweet from the crib. Rumours say her first word was 'please' - she's never been reported as anything other than the most lovely young lady you could hope to meet. She had a dazzling smile and brilliant, almost luminescent eyes. An only child, she was thoroughly spoiled by her exorbidantly wealthy parents. She was never in want, and truly seemed to display every ounce of gratitude she should.

Even early on, she had displayed a latent talent for White Wizardry that, it was said, was sure to match or even surpass her mother's. Said mother held a high position on the faculty of the White College, which ensured Selene a place as soon as she came of age. Truly it can be said that she had everything she could ever want.

Unfortunately, as it so often is, appearances can be deceiving. As soon as her parents turned their backs, Selene underwent a transformation into a petulant devil with no respect for any other being on the face of the planet. She was rotten to the core, always tripping up the household staff and giggling as they plunged head-first down the stairs. As she aged she began to toy with the hearts of others her own age, offering false friendship (which came with an immense ammount of prestige) to the girls and leading the boys on and smiling as she crushed their hearts.

When she began her training in Light magic she captivated the minds and attentions of the staff, and despite the fact that she was by far not the most powerful nor skilled member of the class she was eternally praised, ranking far above what she deserved. So when it came to pick a novice for the trip to Kislev, who could they pick but her?

Appearance
Selene has always looked gorgeous, although the meaning of the word has changed over time. As she grew older, her cute halo of blonde curls unwound into flowing tresses finer than spun gold, her button eyes became both piercing and striking and her chubby cuteness became elegant allure.

She is of average height but carries herself well, making her appear taller than she truly is. She wears fine robes in the varying shades associated with Light magic, almost always accompanied by elbow-length white gloves. She has a slight build that screams of sophistication, but carries curves enough to distract her male peers. Her face is similarly captivating, near-symmetrical and sharp.

Personality
As she aged the affable adorable aura of Selene's youth transformed into a charisma strong enough to draw the eyes of everyone in the room. She commands attention, and has little trouble keeping it with her fast wit and sharp tongue. Underneath her austere and glimmering facade is an arrogance that knows no bounds. She despises all those she sees as under her (i.e. everyone), and the closest she has ever been to real friendship is a mutual understanding of threat she once held with a private tutor who dared to stand up to her insufferable antics.

She also posesses a spiteful envy stronger than most locks. Unmolested by the eyes of caring parents, she developed a degree of success when it came to taking what she wanted by whatever means she wished. Oftentimes a carefully poised kind word is all that is required to acquire whatever she wants, but on the occasions where a degree of finnesse, slight-of-hand and downright crookery is required to purloin jewellery or other finery, she has proven adroit.

Posessions
For the trip to Kislev, Selene has chosen to take the bare essentials: nineteen dresses, thirty-two pairs of shoes, five identical pairs of gloves, a selection of magical wands, fourteen or so magical tomes for light reading, three medium-sized chests of jewellery, and four suitcases worth of other bits and pieces. The only ones worthy of note are:

  • Selene's Gloves are very cleverly embroidered with some material unknown to her to aid in channelling Light magic. The patterns on them glow when she is casting a spell, and aid to bind the magic to her will. This is largely responsible for her sucess in the college, even though it's obviously cheating.
  • On her left hand Selene always wears a ring (hidden in plain sight amongst a smörgåsbord of other rings) with a tiny symbol of light magic carved beneath the gem. This has the wonderful property of storing a reasonable amount of light magic even when the sun has set. A family heirloom, Selene's mother has lent it to her for the trip and expects it returned.
  • Selene carries a small knife with a beatifully carved seahorse handle. She keeps it strapped to the inside of her left shin, where she can grab it in the event of an emergency. It is a precaution that any lady as beautiful as her must take in as large a city as Altdorf or when travelling, or so her father says.
Magic
Selene is not especially talented, even amongst other novices. She has enough skill to create small novas to shed light, attempt to banish things undead or daemonic or create a reasonable shield. One area she has shown a degree of genuine flair is in augmentive spells, and has been able to speed herself up before to pilfer an exquisite necklace or other item.

The New Lunar Republic!
Alicia Delaine

History:
Alicia is a very strange case, even by the esoteric and often downright astonishing histories exhibited by students at the College of Magic, and indeed even fully-fledged wizards will more often than not have a story to tell. For Alicia was born not into a wealthy merchant family, or even good citizens of the empire, but to a Corrupted Courtier and a Magister of a Tzeentchian Coven. Born under a magical gale on Geheimsnacht, Alicia was earmarked for sorcerous skill from the very beginning, and seen as a tool and potential champion by her dark parents. But to the dismay of her parents, Alicia's power comes not from the Gods of Darkness, or even the winds that cause such destruction in the name of Chaos Undivided, but the Jade Wind, known commonly as the Lore of Life. Unwilling to proffer a token of weakness to the remainder of the Coven, and unwilling to take the risk of raising a child in secret, the Father, a Magister of considerable skill cast an illusion of Alicia being stillborn, while secretly abandoning Alicia outside the door of the Jade College. It is the hope of both parents that in years to come, they will have a chance to corrupt not a hopeless child, but a fully-fledged sorceress whose power will equal that of any chaos mage, for although Alicia's lore is unfortunate, her potential runs in her very blood. And so, the Story of Alicia began that fateful night.

Seen as a divine omen by the Jade Magister, Alicia began her sorcerous tuition as soon as she could walk. Her progress was phenomenal, and she soon developed skills which put even graduates to shame. So it was no surprise then, that seventeen years to the day that she was born, Alicia was selected to demonstrate the skill and potential of her College to a wealthy backer, Lord Brakentov of Kislev. But for all her potential, Alicia holds a secret, one she has never told anyone. For she fully remembers her true parents, in an eidetic memory born of Magic, and she knows that one day she will stand at the threshold of light and darkness, and her decision, either way, will bring unnumbered deaths and suffering across the empire, for both the Colleges of Magic and the Cult of her Parents are powerful, and the inevitable confrontation will devestate the land, regardless of which side she finds herself on...

Appearance:
Alicia is very different in looks to others in her class. Instead of the characteristic brown tan of her college, she is deathly pale, contrasted by flowing black hair going down to her waist. She is of average height, and though it is not an inviting form, she is amply developed as a woman, and radiates a cold beauty totally at odds with what is often considered the kindest of lores, in deed if not learning.

To the exhibition, Alicia wears her characteristic brown robe embroidered with green, and with matching emerald ear-rings and necklace. Her black hair is kept bound by a pin of pure amber, and Alicia always carries a bag of fresh seeds with her, on a pouch at her belt.

Magic:
Alica exemplifies the prolific scholar, and her art is surprisingly advanced for one who is still a student. As a Jade Mage, her power varies according to the land she finds herself in. At her call, stone shatters and shoots up, branches come to life with pummeling force, and, though it exhausts her each time, Alicia can create new life to a limited extent, her gift resulting in a limited healing ability, and being able to create trees from the seeds in her pouch. Her gift seems to take on the temperament of the winds of magic around her, resulting in somewhat frequent loss of control over her most powerful spells, should the winds of magic be blowing strongly.

(Z–>)90º – (E–N²W)90ºt = 1

I'd like to register my interest, heavens or shadow is fine so if someone else would like to call one before I work out fluff I'll take the other :)

Mutate: Actually I've started writing for shadow so I'd like to call that, please. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Double mutate: Think I'm done, if you want me to change something let me know ^_^

Gerard Venkmann

Lore of Shadow

Personality:
Unusually for a grey wizard, Gerard is a sociable and likeable young man. He is open and enjoys talking to others, usually over a pint in the local tavern; which he escapes to with maddening frequency, much to the chagrin of his arcane mentors. Clearly, despite a lackadaisical attitude towards his studies, he has a modicum of talent in the shadowy arts to be able to evade detection so regularly.
Gerard is care-free with his abilities, using his natural talent for minor cantrips to entertain himself, and others, rather than apply them to more useful and loftier goals. In fact, he has amassed a small fortune simply by running con games in the Pit and Pendulum – the closest free house to the college.
Gerard values freedom first and foremost, and while he may poke fun and swindle even his friends he has a good nature and does not intentionally harm others. And while he can hold his own in a fistfight he prefers to avoid combat.

Appearance:
Gerard is fairly tall (around 6’) although otherwise of average build. His hair is best described as ‘windswept’ and, like his facial hair, is flecked with grey despite his age due to the nature of the magic he wields. While his peers would make him wear the sombre grey robes of their order, Gerard prefers to don practical, rather than ceremonial, gear: he is usually found in a cotton shirt, trousers, a many pocketed leather waistcoat and leather bracers and belt. To appease his mentors somewhat, he has a grey travelling cloak. Gerard is reasonably handsome and is almost perpetually smiling, as though laughing at a joke only he can hear.

History:
Born to uncertain parents and taken in by a foster home, Gerard spent his childhood as a petty thief and swindler, using his boyish charm to avoid most of his actions’ consequences. One confrontation he couldn’t avoid, though, was when he attempted to cheat an elderly lady who turned out to be a magister of the grey college. She realised that Gerard had sub-consciously been using magic to jilt his games and after a conversation with his foster parents (who were only too eager to be rid of the troublemaker) she became his patron within the grey order and inducted him into the college. Despite his potential, Gerard could not take to studying and so has led a reasonably unremarkable academic career, although the college schooling has at least turned him away from outright crime. He instead puts ever more effort into talking the dull-witted out of their money.
Gerard was not initially the student chosen to be sent to Kislev but when he overheard a group of higher acolytes discussing the trip he felt it was a good opportunity to get away from the college for a bit. Somehow, by the time the petition was approved Gerard’s name had displaced that of the rightful student.
How this came to be is still unknown to the scribes within the college.

Possessions:
Magpie trinket (a lucky charm of sorts, Gerard likes Magpies: feeling that they represent himself. He has adopted the Magpie as his symbol.), a set of dice and a pack of cards (completely fair, he has no need to load dice or mark cards), a small knife (intended for utility rather than combat), a set of lock picks, clothing (as above).

Magic:
Gerard has an innate ability to perform minor illusions: alter words on a page, pips on a die, that sort of thing. He is also readily able to make himself or other objects unseen and, although this isn’t completely impenetrable to a determined mind, it has served him well so far. Gerard has not really applied himself to the greater arts of shadow manipulation, he can just about create shadowy hands and such but has not really bothered with this aspect other than for practical jokes.

Awesome. Just heavens left. (And Metal and Death still need to be written (and Beasts modified) but whatever)

Blader - Just make sure Alicia doesn't go overboard. From what you've written it seems as if she's pretty powerful, and that's ok, but try to limit her somewhat. I'm trying to keep the power level pretty low at the moment, so make sure you can't just solve every problem by 'stab it with a thousand roots', ok :P? Just a thought, maybe make her more likely to miscast or something? Being born on Geheimsnacht to a chaos sorceror has to have some dangerous repercussions. Otherwise it looks fine.

Warlock Matik - Cool. Not the stereotype and not OP. Gerard's in. :)

Grey Seer Scabrac
Name: Aizen Phantomhive.
Gender: Male
Lore: Heaven
Age: 19
Homeland: The Empire.
Posessions taken: Two swords ( like katanas :D). A good old knife. A black cloak. And various necklaces and other jewelery.

Appearance: Aizen is a young man with short, spiky blonde hair. Very mysterious by nature, he is almost always wearing his black cloak. His eyes are a cold blue. He is perfectly simmetrycal in every way, and cares deeply about his appearance. Because of this the hood of his cloak is almost always hanging off the back, but he likes the feel of the cape too much to wear ordinary clothing.

Personality: To most, Aizen would appear to be a courageous youth who would throw himself into harms way for the sake of any ally. Yet don't let that fool you. He is very cold and methodical, and to him, his friends and minions are merely pawns to be used to allow himself to move forwards. Nothing matters except the goal (and of course, his own life). Though there are special circumstances, Aizen will usually not befriend his allies...it makes it easier to sacrifice them...

Aizen tries to hide his real motives from those around him, and often will pretend to be in a good, cheery mood, and to get along with people he hates...so long as it brings him closer to his goals.

Abilities: Aizen is a skilled swordfighter, but recent events have shown he has a knack for the winds of magic as well.

Magic: Aizen often see's glimpses of the future. Though they are very brief, and he cannot tell when exactly they will happen. Along with this trait, he may also control, though to a very minor extent, electricity, and often creates tiny electrical globes in his hands.

Background: Born in the capital of the empire. Aizen is of noble blood. Since he was a boy he was trained to fight with the blade, and given the finest of tutors so that he could one day serve the emperor as a skilled warrior and tactician.

Though his family was slaughtered during a feud with another noble family, Aizen managed to survive, and since then has become rather withdrawn from society, and has always thought of himself as being superior to those around him. Human life no longer means anything to him, for when his family died, he lost part of himself as well...

After the accident, he was found by a roaming celestial mage, who saw the potential in him, and brought him to the celestial college for teaching. Now, he moves towards kislev....

Ok, Beasts is open again but Heavens is now taken.

UndertheEarth - The main problem I can see with your character is that he doesn't appear to come from the College of the Celestial Order. The backstory for the roleplay specifically states that each character is a representative of the college; the whole purpose of their trip to Kislev is to represent the colleges.

Another thing worthy of note is the fact that he's a total social recluse. Not only will this make it hard for him to interract with the other characters but he probably wouldn't do very well in a structured educational system like a College of Magic.

Other than that he seems okay. ^_^

Now we just need Beasts. Metal and Death still need to be written and checked out but we should be on our way soon.

General Mayhem

Awesome - we have someone in every lore now.

Arkskittar and Silas, once I've checked your characters out we should be good to go, other than one or two changes.

Morkskittar - The new character looks fine, other than one small detail - why do the authorities at the Amber College pick Alfred to send to Kislev? If he's not particularly devoted to the art and he's depressed, why choose him? I'm sure you can think of something, so just add that to the end of your history.

Vorg (I'll adress you collectively) - Aizen seems fine now, but I still think Alicia could do with toning down the magic. One of the requirements of the characters from the beginning is that they were young-ish students. Saying that she "developed skills which put even graduates to shame" is kind of stepping around this. If you'd like to keep the magic at the level it is now, you need to even it out somehow. This could be that it drains her quite a lot, or she has some difficulty controlling her powers, or she has more difficulty avoiding miscasts than others. Just something to temper her power somewhat. :)

Hopefully we'll get going soon. ^_^

The Great Bunny. Now with a mop. :)

Hope he’s ok.

Name: Silas Marnim Kang
Gender: Male
Lore: metal
Age: 19
Homeland: Altdorf

History: Silas was born into one of the banking families of Altdorf. His father was a greedy banker obsessed with becoming even richer. As a result of his father’s unwillingness to part with money he spent his early year’s staring longingly into the vault and being put outside so he did not bother the important customers.
Since he spent most of his time outside Silas developed a friendship with many of the beggars that sat outside the bank, even going as far as the share his merger pocket money with them.

It was when he was fourteen that everything changed. One morning Silas’ farther walked into the bank and found Silas sitting inside the vault amongst the gold. The greedy man flew into a rage a beet the poor boy until he has red all over. Silas in a rage unleashed the magic that had been building up inside him for years and turned the entire of the banks gold into led. With his farther in a rage Silas fled (not knowing the transmutation would last for only minutes) and in desperation headed out into the streets.

Yet as luck would have it after only a few hours of wondering the streets Silas was found by one off the many Metal mages that wondered the banking quarter. The mage realising Silas’ talent with the lore of metal quickly took the boy to the college of magic. While there Silas was taught how to control and use his powers.

Appearance: Silas in normal height with bright blue eyes and his long bold hair is tied back in a ponytail. Unlike many whom work with the law of metal Silas has no burn scars upon his body, a sign that he has spent only a few years working with the lore.

Personality: Silas is an extremely generous and kind person. Unlike many of the wizards that study the law of metal he does it not to gain personal wealth but out of a hope that if he discovers a way to turn lead into gold he would be able to make the poor rich. It is in fact due to this innocence and his kindness that Silas was picked to go to Lord Brakentov, in the hope that he would remove to stereotypical image of metal wizards as greedy and fat. Silas possesses one flaw. His innocence has made him susceptible to many things from gold scams to being sweet talked into fetching food from the market for the other students.
After seeing a shard of warpstone stored deep within the college of magic Silas is now convinced that if he could get that substance he could turn lead into gold permanently.

Possessions: Silas wears simple bronze coloured robes with a pointed ha,. He carries a pair of flasks for experiments, a small bag of rations, his tall wooden staff is tipped with a piece of bronze, lastly secured deep at the bottom of his rucksack is a small wooden box within which Silas hopes to one day place a piece of warpstone.

Magic: Silas received little training before being sent off to Lord Brakentov and is thus only proficient in the most basic of metal magic. He can turn precious metals into worthless ones like lead for a few minutes and with continued focus cause a weapon to rust.
