you only remove one rat at a time because the multiwounds only apply to units with multile wounds. for single wounded models, they just die extremely horrible deaths, thats the way of skaven life |

to me it looks like it's a warp lightning strike with additional rules... |

Wait, so each bolt of "warp lightning" the doom wheel does is not a D6 hit, D6 wound attack but is a single hit that does D6 wounds? Guess I've been playing it wrong then and need to fix that. |

I have never figured this out: Is doomwheel ZAPP effected by storm banner as non BS shooting? The 8th ed FAQ changed the banner a bit. I don't think it is, don't have my book with me to check if it counts as a 'shooting attack' thanks |

Before the Stormbanner got changed I would have said 'no'. Now that it effects pretty all shooting attacks, I'd have to say 'yes'. And yes, I realize it makes no sense that a thunderstorm could potentially interrupt a machine that is shooting lightning bolts. |

The energy charged up by the Doomwheel is dissipated into the ionized air, or strikes the suddenly rain-soaked ground. The Doomwheel is effected by the Stormbanner, but only the 4+ to shoot part. Still a nice opening banner. Reduces your enemy's shooting at your army as you move closer, and reduces the chance to get fried by your own weapons going off. |

Funny question; can the Doomwheel stand and shoot with the Warp Lightning Bolts if it is charged? |

The Doomwheel's Zzzap! attack and the Stormbanner really bug me. How can the DW be affected by the Stormbanner if you cannot choose to shoot it in the first place? You cannot choose to fire it and when it does you cannot aim nor can you control what gets hit. For lack of a better term it is a 'compulsory fire' weapon that doesn't even fire a projectile because of the fact that it automatically hits the closest model, regardless of cover and LOS. For all intents and purposes it behaves more like a variable Strength Warp Lightning spell that, barring a successful Leadership test, is automatically cast every turn. I just find it to be an annoying bit of circular logic; the DW's Warp Lightning Attack must be fired every turn and yet should be affected by the Stormbanner. The two items seem to contradict each other. So if the Stormbanner is active what do you do? Roll a 4+ to see if it fires? If you fail the 4+ roll do you then ignore the DW's rules which say it must fire unless you take a Ld test? |

Well I know I am rather new at this, but this is how I read the stormbanner/Zzzap argument. I take it that you would have already declared that you were shooting before the banner takes effect, correct? That would start the check to roll a 4+ to see if it works. Therefore, by that logic, you would not suffer the Ld check as you declared your shooting and would have fired the weapon, but it just fizzled thanks to the banner. Thats a newbies two cents... -T |
