Just a quick FYI - the other trickster's shard only forces rerolled ward saves.

As for the ruby ring of fire I'm assuming you can cast all the fireball variants with it

You can only cast the weakest lvl of a spell from a bound item unless it says otherwise in the description.

So no more poisoned Weeping blades or poisoned warpstone stars.

For what it's worth, if you read the little fluff description for each of those, their effects are actually BECAUSE they are poisoned. If that makes you feel any better about it

Oh well, at least the doomwheel can charge backwards.  Can't win em all.

So I was pondering what could strike before a Skaven Assassin (yeah, I'm that bored) and here's what I came up with:
Daemons: Characters of Nurgle can take Noxious Vapors, which will negate ASF, and force you into ASL instead. A standard Keeper of Secrets is ASF with I 10.
Dark Elf: Assassins are ASF with I 10. If a Dreadlord or Death Hag joins a unit with Banner of Hag Graef (practically guaranteed to be on Black Guard) they will tie our Assassin.
High Elf: Princes will tie an Assassin.
Skaven: Obviously our own assassins tie themselves. A Verminlord would strike after an Assassin, but deny him the re-rolls to hit with I 10.
Vampire Counts: Nightshroud magic armor removes ASF and cuts your I to 1 IF you swing at the wearer, if you attack the guy next to the wearer you'll be fine, relatively.
Wood Elf: A Wardancer-kin Highborn who chooses the ASF dance will tie our assassins.

So there you have it, there are all of 3 armies that can reliably get a swing in before a Skaven Assassin hits them. Another 3 can tie us. All the rest just have to hope they live long enough to swing back. Bearing this in mind, and considering the fact that Assassins will be re-rolling failed hits A LOT, I think a Skaven Assassin might be finding his way into my ranks shortly.

(Probably another Assassin really. My rivals are everywhere. It's only good sense to assume there are an assassin in my ranks already, just waiting. Waiting...

No they can't, as they don't have access to mundane armour.

I can't find the relevant section in the 8th ed rule book. It only says wizzards cannot wear armour. Could you point me in the right direction?

That clause does appear to be missing from the 8th ed rulebook. Interesting...

I still think it's too good to be true. But I have been trolling the book for any hint of that old rule, and so far it does not seem to be there. Otherwise 2+/4++ assassins? Here we come?

Apparently so, there's nothing in our book that stops assassins taking armour and the only thing I can find in the 8th ed rulebook is the bit where wizards cannot take magic armour unless they already wear some.

True, it's more interesting than helpful. Maybe the Glimmering Scales or Shield of Ptolos will be of some limited use though.

Doesn't rule stand at if you can't buy mundane version of a item you can not buy a magical version IE wizards unless they can already equip heavy armour can not buy magical heavy armor.

atleast thats how it stood in 5-7th ed's
Assassin kill toll: 1 oldblood, 1 vampire lord, 2 chaos lords, Bretonnian lord, 3 Minotaurs and numerous champions with overkill. An ever growing list!
