Docked tails; Advice please!

I am building a gang of night runners, and have decided to leave their tails off, as they're bound to get knocked off anyway, the way I treat models!

I will claim that they practice tail docking; does anyone have any suggestions for what a docked tail stub should look like? Freshly scabby, old scar, clean cut, puckered etc.?

I am using Khemri brown with Devlan wash for fur;
Adeptus battlegrey with black wash for clothes;
Tallarn flesh for snouts etc.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I see lead people
They're eshin, a jagged chunk of metal has to be on their tail. Of course that wouldn't be much good if it's just a stump so I guess I'd go with Threeshades suggestion.

I suggest that instead of docking them to make sure you glue the tails so they have a second contact point to the model. This requires a small amount of trimming of either the tail or the body, or a specific angling of the tail. Two contact point will make them much less likely of falling off.

I pin them on using the hand drill that GW sells and pinning wire. (florists stock good pinning wire for flower decorations)
