I didn't get Foul Ratmen's Toxic Howitzer from Russia in time for the GT last weekend (damn slow mail!), so I threw this together the night before the competition. I should mention that all of my Globodiers have these purplish colored poison wind globes...I just find the color far more hideous and menacing than green ![]() The mortar is made from brass tube and wire and greenstuff, with the exception of the little wheel on the front (presumably used to adjust the angle of fire), which came off the new Doomwheel model. ![]() I managed to kill a few things with this in the tourney...including a misfire where my opponent got to place the template over my own unit of Globodiers. I was honored that he felt they were that much of a threat! P.S., the GT was Sunday and model from Russia arrived on Monday morning...typical Skaven luck! |

It still looks pretty good, especially if it is just a stop-gap until you get another model. I would personally be quite happy with that as a final model. I love the mortar from the fluff view point but how would you rate it in the game i.e. will you continue to include it in your list? |

Yes, well when the Toxic Howitzer didn't come in Friday's mail I got going on this model after work on Friday evening, finished it and painted it Saturday and gamed with it on Sunday. I guess I'll keep it as a second mortar for the off chance that I will actually use 2 in a game. Ratso, I think it's a pretty good weapon for the points. Definitely adds a punch to a skirmished unit of Globodiers. Not sure I'd take one on a regular basis with Clanrats when the WFT and Doomflayer are so much better for their points, but against a horde opponent these things can be effective and it's one more tool to use against things that can only be hurt by magic weapons. Next up for my Globodiers will be a Bombardier conversion. Thinking about sculpting that from scratch in a real grenade throwing pose (all the GW Globodiers seem posed as if they are displaying their globes, not actually throwing them!) Wondering if the quarterback from the Skaven Bloodbowl team might be a good starting point? |

Aw Gee, thanks, but really there wasn't that much sculpting to do. Just the stack of ammunition globes and very minimal on the mortar itself, which is mostly made from wires and tubes you can buy at any hobby shop or hardware store. The figure is a 4th-5th edition Globodier. |
