After great successes with my 1500 pts list in my previous 3 tournaments (3 1st prizes) we now have a 2000 pts tournament coming up, and that means lords involved. my personal opinion is that skaven perform best at low pts, 500-1500 pts are best for skaven generals, mainly because we lack real powerfull lords. The grey seer is a good caster, but not exeptional, and the warlord is in my opinion the most usefull for its LD My general battle plan will be trying use the slave as my first line, lure units into positions they don't want to be in, and flank with my other units. doomwheel for taking on the big 'uns and greater deamons and furnace units as a hammer and general arrow attractor. My grey seer will do some buffs, and try to cast the 13th spell at least once a battle (7 PD), but is most used for the LD bonus needed with my slaves.I'm still working on my abomb, and i like to field only painted units, so no abomb this time but enough talks, the list: Characters 751, 38% Grey Seer, 2 dispell scrolls, p 7ower stone, skalm - 340 Plague Priest, Scryin Stone, Flail, Shadow Magic Trinket, Furnace - 294 Chieftain BSB, shield, 72 Warlock with Doomrocket, 45 Core 662, 33 % 24 Clanrats, shields, spears, FC, Warpfire trower - 210 (chieftain) 24 Clanrats, shields, standard, musician - 120 (Seer) 6x20 Slaves - 240 4 Rat Darts (5 giant rats + 1 Packmaster) - 92 Special 434, 21% 25 Plague Monks, FC, Storm Banner - 250 7 Plague Cencer Bearers - 112 6 Gutter Runners - 72 Rare 150, 7,5% Doomwheel - 150 total 1999 i´m still doubting about the gutter runners, as they do have to deal with the storm banner for the first turn they appear. what do you guys think ?? |

For starters, it looks pretty solid- as per your usual lists. And your overall plan seems sound, too. Just three [mutate: four] little things: 1- Since your monks don't have a magical standard, I'd give the Storm Banner to them. This will help for two reasons: Firstly, it will make it a lot harder for your opponent to kill the bearer (mind you this won't matter so much after it has 'burnt out'). Secondly, it will allow you to protect your BSB with magical stuff if you choose to do so. This could matter all game long. I'm a fan of a shield and Warpstone Armour for my BSB. Gives him a 2+ 'bouncing' armour save in close combat that heavily discourages S4 and lower troops from even allocating attacks his way... 2- There's something wrong with your Plague Priest. You've got him listed with two talismans that total over 50 points (which is illegal for two reasons). Also, the points total that you listed isn't correct, so I'm sure you typed something wrong there. Also, you don't have him listed as having a flail. He should. 3- What are you hoping to do with your gutter runners? If you want them to protect your flanks then they should probably get poison and slings, making them more expensive than a Doomwheel (which would be much better at protecting your flanks, so I'd recommend a second Doomwheel instead of the gutter runners in this case, unless your composition score would be hurt badly by taking two). If you want them to hunt warmachines then a unit of 5 will suffice. You can't get more than 5 in base to base with most (3-member) crews. Poison isn't really necessary (helps mostly against Dwarfs and High Elves). Instead of poison I'd try to add 1 more Gutter Runner and split them into two units of 5 (double the trouble and give you a higher chance of a timely arrival if you are forced to infiltrate in the stead of scouting.) And you've got the spare "special" slot, so why not? And for taking out warmachines don't even bother with slings. MUTATE: 4- You've got 5 dispel dice, and may not need the second scroll. I'd swap it for a second power stone. Saves 5 more points and gives you two solid chances to try the Curse!

I'd put good money on the fact that the "foul pendant" u put on ur PP was meant to be that 1 use only 3+ ward save for 15pts, but yeah stick him with a flail for sure. Also I'd say either drop the gutter runners down to 5 or 6 and use the spare points for a doomlock (15 pt warlock with doomrocket total 45pt) The spare character slot is a shame to waste. Or else split the GR into 2 5 man squads. Personally id try to find a spare 90 pts to take a cannon as well as ive had great luck with them in some games in the past (guessing a st10 shot into the back of a 20 strong unit of black orcs killing 10 and then killing the rest with giant rats ) Im sure the BSBs unit will be screened behind a few units of slaves but id still leave the stormbanner with the monks simply because it is such a rock hard anvil. Other than that list looks good. |

Thanks for the correction, as warpflodder said he had the scrying stone and trinket, I was doing the list by hard, not such a good idea, and he had a flail in my original list the reason my bsb had the storm banner is because I firstly had the shroud of dripping death on the monks, but since that one is gone I should change it back to the monks yes I like the warpflodders idea of changing to some GR to the deathlock, i'll drop the GR by 3, combined with the 9 pts surplus on the priest that makes one doomlock My general battleplan for the chieftain is never to see combat other than flanks, and for that pupose the 3+ save is enough thanks a lot for the advise |
