Hello, fellow clan leaders! I have finally decided to get around to showing some of my rats. Now, I have to forewarn, that the picture quality is horrible and is unlikely to get much better in the near future. With that being said, I believe you can still gauge rather fine what the mini is all about. I will start this off with a bit of fluff. I've never done this before and I haven't really thought up a story. So, I will be thinking up the plot as I go! The main fluff behind Clan Reker is that it is a clan battling for control at Karak Eight Peaks. Run by the savage warlord, Lord Reker, the clan seeks to wrest control from the iron grip of Clan Mors and earn a seat on the Council of Thirteen. Here's the beginning of the story.. Pussfoot scurried hastily through the damp corridor. His leathery tail twitching nervously between his hustle towards his work and momentarily pausing to check behind him for any trouble. Slaves in the City of Pillars were numerous and, even if they are caretakers for a breeder, are known to quickly be gobbled up if they happen to rest or lose caution for even a split second. At last, after a long treck, Pussfoot made it to his station. Today was a big day for him. The breeder the lowly slave was assigned to was scheduled to spawn a litter on this day. Pussfoot had helped to see this breeder through the birth of many generations of skaven. The deformed slave could make out the breeder's chortles of agony as he neared the beast's lair. Pussfoot had finished his preparations to receive the new litter. The breeder was soon due to give birth to her spawn. The foetid slave gazed up at the enormous she-rat. The condemned creature was shackled to the cavern floor from its neck. Its grossly undersized limbs had long ago had their sinewy muscle wither away. The breeder was forced to live a life of constant torture and birth. Pussfoot had long ago lost the urge to mate with this abomination of nature; the cruel stormvermin of Clan Mors had made it customary to sterilize slaves which came in contact with breeders. Only the strongest of skaven were allowed to breed. The breeder began to give telltale signs that the litter was coming. Pussfoot and the other slaves assigned to this breeder twitched their tales in anticipation while scurrying back and forth; the Black Hunger which plagues every skaven never fully allowing their skittish bodies to rest. Just when Pussfoot was sure that the breeder was about to give birth, the large creature became silent, tilted its rat-like head upwards and bellowed a cry of torture the likes of which the little famished slave had never heard. The breeder's frame collapsed on the cold cavern floor. Pussfoot and the other skavenslaves began to edge closer for a look, none of them fully understanding what had occured. --------- The little skaven opened its eyes. It was still in its mother's womb. It could see dozens upon dozens of other creatures in the womb with him. They all had sharp claws and jagged teeth like him. They shared many common qualities with the little skaven, but none of them matched him in fury or size. Pain. Intense feelings of pain began to pulse through the skaven's body. The eyes of the rat went bloodred. Vision blurred. The hunger was taking over. It needed to feed. With tiny claws it tore and slashed its brother's flesh. With tiny, jagged teeth it greedily swallowed them hole. For what seemed like an eternity the creature fed and fed upon its kin. Until the time came when it felt strong. It turned its claws on the soft tissue of its mother's belly. ------- The skin covering the breeder's belly began to pulsate and extend outwards. Pussfoot leaned in for a closer inspection. As his approach neared, a set of powerful claws burst through the breeder's stomach. A jet-black skavenbabe leaped from the rendered flesh and fell upon Pussfoot. This skaven was the largest pup that Pussfoot had ever seen. Already being nearly the same size as Pussfoot himself and possessing a much thicker musculature. It would also be the last. The pup bit out the misshappen slave's throat and began to gobble him up. The other slaves had already begun to scurry away. But not all of them were fast enough to make it out.. I hope you guys like it! mutate: I apologize for photo fail on the first go around. Here comes try number two! Again, sorry for horrible picture quality! First up is my warlord: Lord Reker, the Ruiner! This model is based off of the fabulous new Squeek. I sculpted my own set of arms. Some may find them too large, but I find them rather suitable to my warlord's daily need to smash the surging hierarchy in his clan. The model was originally used in 1500pt games (where he slaughtered many foes!) and thus has a GW modeled. The hand is from the 40k Orks sprue that has the rockets in it. The haft is crafted from a stormvermin halberd and the cloth is greenstuff. I also removed the silly teeth he had on his helmet, and replaced it with something more sinister looking and leader-like. The model has no base, because I am still working on the litter and stormvermin holding up the litter! Lots more sculpting and trophy adding to do. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Next up is my BSB. This guy was made from a stormvermin, but has added greenstuff armor. His banner is a clanrat banner and a stormvermin banner greenstuffed together. Originally he was supposed to be holding a dwarfbane, hence the piercy spear I made for him. But, I decided to go with the Banner of the Sacred Rat gamewise. I really love this guy and he was the first model I started painting. Only problems with him are the bottom part of the banner needs to be washed and highlighted, and I am not really 100% satisfied with the weapon arm. I was thinking of adding a full sleeve of greenstuff armor, any ideas? ![]() ![]() Now my stormvermin command. The standard bearer is holding a Clan Banner of Superiority. Everything is done on them, except I need to wash and highlight the banner. The bases for these are currently primed and will be painted in a single session along with the other stormvermin's bases. ![]() ![]() This is the unit's ratling gun. I used a clanrat and a stormvermin. The stormvermin is holding a partially chopped rocket from the aforementioned 40k Ork sprue. Additional greenstuff and heavy remodeling of the arms was required. The clanrat has the other end of the chopped rocket, modeled to be a case of bullets. There used to be a cord attaching the two, but alas I dropped it and it broke and, of course, the piece went careening accross the floor never to be found again. Haven't gotten around to resculpting a new one. All painted up except for some gadgety stuff on the gun and barrel. Base is needed, but not a high priority for me at the moment. ![]() ![]() And, finally I have a unit of 30 Clanrats with a doomrocket engineer in it. A lot of unit fillers are used, because I am a poor young man and I believe it adds character to my units. Never met a single person who refused to play me because of lack of models in the unit. ![]() ![]() The engineer has a rocket strapped on his back and is holding a warplock weapon. I was going to incorporate this in the game, but sadly the option is waaayyy too many points for way too little recourse. So.. it is there to just look cool! ![]() ![]() And finally.. We come to my abomination. Now, this is not your regular run of the mill abomination that is a slab of meat and random rat ogre heads and arms sticking out. My vision of my army is a militaristic clan that is well equipped and is hard nosed. Weird things like the fluff description for the abomination aren't my cup of tea. So I decided that I would model a heavily armored Rat Ogre to be my abomination. He is on a large target base because I made him before the FAQ came out, which if I understand correctly states that I can pretty much use any base size I'd like. I haven't played too many games since the FAQ, so I don't know if this would be a massive problem. Would you be opposed to this being an abom stand-in? Heavy cutting, repositioning and green stuff was involved. Still need to finish off the base. ![]() Ok, guys! That is it for now. I hope you liked my stuff. Comments and criticism is very desired! P.S: Mods, I apologize for lack of pics in the beginning and I apologize for posting in the wrong forum .. If you could move this to the "Army Diary" section, that would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Your work seems really good, but not the way to present it. Instead of holding them in your hands, it's often better to leave them on a flat surface. It also lets you stabilize the camera better, usually. Though most of your pics still aren't bad. Rotate the pics. We won't do it for you. If your Windows (or other OS) doesn't have a button to do it quickly, just open Paint.exe -> Image -> Rotate -> Choose your angle -> apply -> save. Takes about 5 seconds by picture. Another way to post your fluff would be to include just the main lines here and post the full version in the Fluff section. Having gamed for 10 years, I can tell you that you probably will change style quite a few times so your fluff won't always fit. Like I said, the work seems pretty cool. I just have 2 specific comments: - love the clanrats' rocks on the base, but they "come out of nowhere", as in there's nothing under them. I suggest even tinyer rocks, or even sand. - On the war litter, that's your fingerprints in the wood right? I like the wood sculpt, but unfortunately the fingerprints might stick out in the end (they do now at least). |

Cool stuff! Really like the style of your army, especially the heavily worn out blue armor plates. Looks like a fast but totally effective style of painting. Care to share your technique maybe? |
