Well, finally being dragged down by the desire to get the rats, i've been converting things and thinking of fluff. Today I finally went down to the store to get the book, and wrote up a 1k list....which I now hand to you guys to tear apart and tell me its weaknesses!

(Ps: I took the assassin, even if it is worthless, because I think eshin is cool and I have a habit of doing things that way  )

Chieftain Glarek, General, shield of distraction and blade of corruption, heavy armour -95 pts

A good combo in my opinion, less attacks against him is always a good thing....

Verminpaw the assassin- Warpstone throwing stars -170 pts

I think assassins are cool. Should help with large targets like giants...and combat res so long as he stays away from characters

Krask-Lvl2 warlock engineer w condenser and doom rocket-150

Doom rocket packs a punch if it hits, and since he's only lvl 1, the condenser is needed to give him the ability to get a spell in here or there...might drop it though, seeing as I already have 2 dice in the pool

20 slaves!-40

well...they're slaves! Throw them at the enemy and set up flank charges etc.!

20 slaves!-40

Same! Had 2 points to spare!

28 clanrats w shields, light armour, banner and musician!-135

Whats a skaven army without clanrat blocks?

30 clanrats w shields, banner, light armour and musician+champion...flayer-210

Champion is here because this is the chieftains unit, something to throw at the enemy who wants a challenge....flayer to help with combats...

Doomwheel-150

Being originally from an elite army...I just had to have atleast 1 hard hitting unit in the list!

Models: 106
Points:999
Units: 9

Any tips and suggestions for a new skaven player?

23 points to play with

shield of distraction not so good, only works against muti-attack models.

surprisingly, you actually have a good idea what your doing. seems like a balanced and solid list.

The characters have exceeded there points limit. it's 50 points in total. so you have a few more points to play with. ;)

How have they gone past it? It only includes the magic weapons.... The others aren't included in a 50 limit

I did not notice that....

Then why the heck dot you just make the skavenge pile items in the magic section instead of halfway across the book where it is harder to find!?

yup I would drop the tail weapon and the poisoned attacks try and find the means to get the warlock upto a lvl 2.

Also don't under estimate the assassin those throwing stars can destroy a chariot charge with stand and shoot ;)

I know, they look pretty good to me....

hmmm, 23 points left after the poison and tail weapon are taken away...so I can get a unit of 5 giant rats and 1 packmaster....any other ideas? To get 85 points for lvl 2, I could drop the condenser and 1 slave to be at 45 points...but Im unsure of where to get the other 40...

@carch, thanks B)

@SkavenDan, thanks for pointing out that character problem...

You need 35 extra points to go from level 1 to level 2. You have saved 23 so you need 12 drop 2 clanrats thats down to 3 points drop a slave 1 point should hit 1,000 if you were on 999 :)

Then why the heck dot you just make the skavenge pile items in the magic section instead of halfway across the book where it is harder to find!?

So that nobody thinks they would deliver magical attacks. So they don't need to end each item with 'multiple characters may take this item'. And so that they don't have to clarify that they don't count as a magical weapon choice so that you can take several choices.
Still probably would have made sense to put it a little closer to the rest of the stuff. Maybe like they did with the Daemonic Gifts in the WoC book.
