I'm having my second tournament in one month and since in last tournament everyone kicked my poor ratties ass I think I may need some guidance :lol: Last time my magic sucked (both spells and dispels) so this time I am planning to go high magic. Since my Grey seer tend to die without the bell, and I cant afford both bell and furnace, I thought to try to play without any lords at all. Main idea is to keep engineer on the back with clan rat units and weapon teams and crush the enemy with pestilens units and stormvermin unit with doom-flayer. Any help is welcome. I think your total is off. Adding up your units on my calc, twice, I got 2236 for the total. If that is correct then I'd drop two slaves to get and extra Gutter Runner, which would bring you up to 2250 exactly. |

^ Uuups, my mistake I forgot to add the price of the scrying stone to my general, I had calculated it only to the total army cost.. now the total pts should be correct.And the case with the Vermin Lord.. I wish I could take him, but then I would have to drop doomwheel of furnace. The tournament rules are that the army is allowed to have only tree large targets, and in army spesific rules it states that doomwheel counts as two large targets for counting purposes. So I already have 3 large targets, and since Vermin Lord is one ass well, I am not allowed to have him without dropping doomwheel or furnace... And for the slaves, I was also thinking about having a block or two more... but since I have a lack of clanrat figures I have to wait for an answer from the tournament organicer. In skavenslaves description it says that sometimes eaven captures from other races are used as slaves, so I am hoping that I am allowed to play with a mixed unit of packmasters, wood elves and gnoblars as a slave block

This looks like a fairly decent list, but like Cap, I'd recommend another slave block or two - most people are happy with proxies, so night goblins, gnoblars, etc. are common; especially if you can 'skaven'-them-up a little. Also, I wouldn't run 20 strong blocks of anything except slaves. So your stormvermin and one of your units of monks are two small for me - they will lose their rank bonus to quickly, which is essential both to them winning combat, and staying in combat in case they don't. If it was me, I'd cut down on the magic items a bit to increase the SV and monks, and field at least another unit of slaves. For 5 more of each and 20 slaves, you need approx 110 - I'd be tempted to lose both power stones, and the ratling gun, maybe? If you are 15 or so pts under, that would do it. *mutate* if I read right, you don't have 15 pts spare now - umm, drop your unit of 25 slaves to 20, they're the one unit who aren't expected to win anything, their uses are many, but not really that That should get you close . . . well, 24 is fine for SV or monks - especially if you're putting a character in.

Thanks for the help. I decided to drop some magic level from skyrke engineers and complitely leave my poxrat riding priest home (have to admid after several games, he is great in 1500pts games but in 2000-2250 games he usually doesnt do much.) Instead I took grey seer to command my army. (can't deny... 3 spells from the lore of ruin and the 13th just destroy anything that comes to their way) I also gave up gutter runners, doomflayer and stormvermin (it was too small block anyways, and I dont have more stormvermin figures), and instead took 2 more blocks of slaves and one more 25unit of monks (one can never have too many of clan pestilens mighty warriors ) And btw the 20 block of monks have enought ranks, furnace joins the unit and makes it 5wide7deep block of instand death to anyone who walks on the way.I'll se how the army works after some editing. Still havent found the perect army list with the new book. My old pestilens list with Plague lord as a general, two plague priest and one festering chantor followed by almost nothing but plague monks and cencer bearers was almost unbeatable.. Oh how I miss the old book and Plague lord with weeping blades. |
