Hello everyone, Tonight I have been working on making a war litter. When I first read it, I pictured slaves carrying this thing, with some stormvermin guards at hand to protect. That is how I read the description, but figured I would need at least 6 models at the base of it to pull that off, and I didn't think I could model a piece like that on small enough of a base to fit it into any kind of unit without taking up WAY too many spots. After some though I opted to just use four stormvermin as the carrying rats/guards for the model. The problem I am having is that I cannot seem to fit it on a 40x40 anyway. I am thinking of making the model 60wx40d so that I can achieve the look I want. I have never really gotten into conversions too much before, so I wanted to ask if I could do that? I can count the model as the litter and 2 rank and file of whatever unit I put it in for rules ease if the case need be. I don't want to cheat by making the litter base too large and eating too much space with one model, but at the same time I don't want to cram too much into too small of a space and ruin what I am going for. I was hoping some of you guys who make some of the crazy conversions I have seen, or really anyone who has an opinion on the matter could help me out. If I make it 60x40 am I ever going to be able to actually use it? |

...you can still call me Rusty Tincanne if you want, though.

Nagash did a very nice palanquin for his Nurglitch using two of the older PCB's. Fits well on a 40mm base. Maybe a Stormvermin would fit in as well. Definitely would on a 60x40 base though. Here:

That is a great model for sure. I didn't think of using the old censer bearers. I am hoping to achieve a real 'pompous' feel about the warlord. I want the model to look good, but to earn a few chuckles at the same time. Once I get something more than a pile of grey, I will post some pics for sure. I found a picture after doing some searches of something very similar to what I am going for. The person who did that one, positioned the rats at the abse slightly differently, and I think that he was onto something, so I think that 40x40 might be possible after all. |

I've got mine on a 40x40. I took two clanrats and greenstuffed out their arms for old human arms from a mordheim set, shields and shoulderpads from the chaos marauder set, and night runner capes. They look a whole lot tougher than clanrats and even some of my 5th edition stormvermin. I don't actually have them carrying the Warlord though, just standing infront of his stone pillar, blocking for him. It's relatively simple design that lets me swap out the warlord with pillarbase if I just wanted to run him alone but still wanted him to 'stand out' above the crowd (because I'm always getting the 'ok which unit is the Lord in?' question, because his stormvermin have a similar paint scheme). Plus I figured that a raised 'mounted' platform would be more prone to tip over, for now I've just got two 'stormvermin' dragging his pillar around the battlefield. ..Wl.. Cr.Cr --Cap |
