I wanted to get an honest critique of this list before I ran it. So here it goes, my first attempt at a Skaven Army. Grey Seer Screaming Bell Warp Energy Condenser Shadow Magnet Trinket Staff of Sorcery Dispel Scroll Assassin (Same unit as the Grey Seer on his Bell) Weeping Blades Warlock Engineer (He goes in the second unit of 30 Clanrats) Level 2 Doomrocket Warlock Augmented weapon Plague Priest (Dropping him in with my Plague Monks... duh.) Level 2 30 Clanrats Spears Shields Full Command Ratling Gun 30 Clanrats Spears Shields Full Command Ratling Gun 20 Clanrats Spears Shields Full Command 20 Skavenslaves 4 Rat Ogres with 2 Packmasters Master Bred on one Ogre 30 Plague Monks Full Command Storm Banner Doomwheel So what'cha think, how can I tweek it, I have 4 Jezzails, a full unit of Gutter/Night Runners and an HPA that I can adjust my list accordingly with, as well as an extra Plague Priest. |

Hi, While a nice start, I think you've fallen into the trap of taking too many items on your characters. A doomrocket warlorck engineer does not need the WAW as he will generally be aiming to avoid combat and get a nice doomrocket shot off. The warp-energy condenser would be far more useful on him as he benefits from both parts of it. That also gets rid of the two arcane items on your grey seer, which is illegal :-P Since the seer is going to get a lot of attention consider Skalm, which you can afford by dropping the WEC and the Staff if I remember my points correctly. I've recently found that the priest is better at Lvl 1. This is because all the plague spells are short range and so for the first few turns he often has nothing to do in the magic phase. I think you would be better off using those points from increasing his level to give him a flail and poisoned attacks. Possibly stick a scroll here if you have the points. Not sure about assassin with weeping blades, points could probably be saved here if needed... On the unit front, I believe spears are only really useful on the unit pushing the bell, but others will probably disagree. The unit of 20 clanrats doesn't see to have a place and could easily be slaves. With the points saved you could add in a variety of things depending on what you wanted from the list. Some censer bearers could be good, or gutter runners to take out warmachines. Not sure on that one really... Cheers, Dave |
| I used to have a tally of wins, losses and draws, but I've totally lost count so will instead ramble for a little while... | |

I agree with tBoW that you have too many magic items - and warlocks are not combat characters anyway, so the augmented weapon is a lot of points for not much help. I disagree about the priest in this list tho - with a seer and a warlock, you don't want to be giving away your general power dice to your priest just to help him cast pestilent breath. In a list with less magic, lvl 1 is fine, but your seer is gonna want all those dice himself Stick with level 2 - but absolutely give him a flail, whether or not you give him poisoned attacks. There is controversy about putting an assassin in a screaming bell unit - until it's resolved, I wouldn't do it, opponents might object. Put him somewhere else, or drop him completely - maybe go all out magic, and pick up another WE. I agree about the unit of 20 clanrats too - make them slaves, it'll be more useful. Given the options you list, I'd either take some jezzails or a small gutter runner squad (or both!) with the points saved by making some changes. Lastly, Ratling guns have dropped from being one of the must-haves last edition to the weakest of the weapon teams this edition. Doesn't mean you can't take them, but just be aware
