I want to buid a Plagueclaw Catapult for my PURE Pestilence list. I'm not sure on how i want to build it. Cost is not important to me as long as it looks good. Can anybody help me out? Thank you. |

polystyrol and wood. search for some other catapults to get some impressions how a catapult looks like. think of how your want yours to look like and make some sketches. when building architetual structures like warmachines it's very useful to make sketches from different sides and in original size. and then start building. don't forget to make enough details. the more little details you have on your model, the more interesting it looks. try to avoid large empty areas without structure. if you want a wood structure you can use green stuff, make scratches in the wood or polystyrol or try to achieve a wooden look with your painting. making a real wood structure is a loot of work if you have a big model like warmachine, but i think if you have enough other small details standing out it doesn't matter if you have no structure in your wood. mutate: -> or if you don't want to build it from scratch you can use other models as a base. i saw some good conversions using the old screaming bell as a base. just search for pics to get impressions. that's very very helpful imo <- hope i could help you. greetz finger... |

Orc Rock Lobba. Combine that with the small circular incense holder from the Bell/Furnace kit on the end of it (so it looks like you're launching the coals that are in the holder). On the front stone you can glue or paint some Skaven symbols. Theres a pic of it somewhere in this forums, I'll mutate if I can find it. http://underempire.net/index.php?showtopic=28220&st=60 |

This is literally, word for word, what I did. I imagine, with a grimy paint job, the Bretonian trebuchet would work too. |

I know someone who wants to convert it form the plague furnace with the catapult arm (probably scratch-built) flinging the great censer mounted so that the fumes follow the path of the motion (i.e arc towards the ground). |

The best and cheapest option amongst the GW catapult models I think is the rocklobba. Trebuchet is slightly more expensive but its chapel look IMO suits the monks. The gnoblar scraplauncher is also a very nice model to use, but is quite a bit more expensive and the Rhinoxen would probably be wasted. If you plan to build most of it from scratch, I recommend including spare plastic bitz from things like chariots, the chapel or watchtower, especially for the more visible parts. Since raw materials like balsa wood and styrene can look very plain and manually creating details like rivets and metal bands is a lot of hassle, including things with the details already on is a quick way of getting "the look". |

it may sound obvious but i would use the screaming bell as the basis and an orc rock lobba, the furncae pieces give you everything you need the rock lobba gives more to structure the throwing arm and mechanisms.....its an ongoing plan for me |

Hi all, this will be my forst post on the UnderEmpire, having been a lurker for quite a while. I just finished building my Plagueclaw much like Finger describes, using a rotary tool with a rough sanding cylinder to make the wood grain. The four plaguemonks are the crew/woundcounters.![]() ![]() In the "cup" i have two skeleton heads and when painted i will uses some water effects with a small amount of green paint in it to top it off and make the goo amunition. I am also making a cauldron to have stood with the crew with more goo. |

Looking good, Accalon. One slight problem though - i think you're missing a counterweight or other means of actually firing the thing. |

The chain from the back end of the throwing arm goes under a crossbar and back to the crew, who then pull to fire. Low tech, high chance for the chains at both ends to tangle, very skaven Also, i envision that there will allways be enough slaves and whatnot running around to help pull the change even when it starts to lose wounds.

I'm using one of the really old Screaming Bell models. I had been trying to figure out what to do for the "bucket" end, and now that I've just put together a Furnace, I'm thinking of the same idea that Black Death had in his pics.![]() |

I'm planning to use the old Bell as a base and go from there. Using the big censer from the Furnace kit as the ball that gets thrown is an idea. |
