I believe it should count as a champion. Its bought in the same WAY as a champ, so effectively if you take a master bred and a MM, you get 2 champs.

Plus, its hella funny seeing an enemy hero challenge the unit, only to have a hulking brute of a Rat Ogre step out to meet him. I had this happen in a friendly game vs empire, where a captain strode out of his swordsman unit and issued a challenge at me, which my ROgre gladly accepted.

His response: "ah, pooberries...".
You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again?

nice the empire captain didn't know what was going to happen til that big guy went for him anyways regarding the question i treat him as a 2nd champ and nobody at my local GW has a problem with it.
Why send Clan Eshin to kill Warboss BlackTOOF when Clan Skryre can just blow him up?-Warlock Engineer green tails most cost effective decision(until the Warp lightning cannon 'mysteriously malfunctioned')

Multiple champions is nothing new. Troll slayers have had them for quite some time.

The Mad Ratter.

In fairness to the idea of having a second champion - it's quite fitting for a Master Moulder to send his favourite Rat Ogre to take up a challenge for him in his place.

Remember that story in last edition's Skaven book, with the Blood Dragon against the Master Moulder? My favourite Skaven fluff piece ever. B)

Yeah that's my favourite piece too. He is kicking ass and killing Rat Ogres, and then the Master Moulder is like uh... and one of the ones he thought was dead gets up and smashes his head.

A great piece of fiction!

Agreed! ^_^

But yes, a Master-Bred Rat Ogre is a champion. They make a great surprise for any hero-level characters in the oposing unit! :D

And if you want it to be even weirder (although normally you wouldnt) when challenged refuse with you Ratogre Champion and send him to the back! You should see your opponents face.... ... and the packmasters get a new friend :rogre:

First of all ... why would you actually do this?

Second, unless you master moulder is also in the front rank, the moment you refuse, you don't have a choice.

Third, isn't it you opponent that chooses when you refuse a challenge? Keep that in mind when thinking about refusing a challenge.
