Shockingly, yet another abomination WIP

Yes, here's another abomination thread. Basically, I'm taking the Galrauch model, and merging it with Carnifex bits, to make some sort of chaotic mutant beast. It's not particularly ratty, but I think it'll get the idea of a giant freaky monster across reasonably well.

So far, all I've done is one of the heads. It'll be getting two pairs of Scything Talons from the carnifex, and a tail from the old Red Terror.

It looks really good as a monster and the greenstuff work is very well done. However, like you said it isn't particularly ratty but that's a matter of personal taste. Love to see where this is going...

Id love to see the final outcome! You clearly have some great Greenstuff modelling skills, keep up the good work :D

Cool model, not yet ratty enough for a HPA.

An interesting start though.

I'm aware that this is an unconventional take on the abomination, that not everyone may like. The way I see it, not everything Skaven has to be ratty. The Empire doesn't exclusively use primates, they ride horses, griffons, etc, distinctly non-ape-like animals. I don't see why Skaven would restrict themselves soley to rodent-based monsters. I'm going for some random monster picked up from the Chaos wastes.

And then skaven have a tendency to skavanade (?) it.

But please don't let this stop you ;). It's your army so use your own fantasy, it's never a bad thing to have an original theme.

Quiet, I'm plotting.

I like it. Tyranid parts are some of my favourite bits, so I heartily endorse this merger. Looking forward to seeing how this thing evolves.

I haven't been working on him all that much, my attention tends to wander. Been working on some slaves and such. Here's where he's at now:

I've added a lot of GS to his back, bulking it up to look like he actually has some muscles to drive the big-ass claws.

I'll be adding more scales along the sides.

I love it so far. What are you planning to do with the other dragon's head though?

I would not want to meet that thing on the battlefield...

Well done, I like Tyranid Abominations.
What colour scheme do you have planned for him?

I like it much more than most ABOMBS but it feels distinctly unratty. I would recommend having some rat bits stuck to it whatever you have spair in your bits box and a bit of green stuff. Not too much though wouldn't want to ruin the Nid look of the monster.

Personally I like the non-ratty look to it, sure Skaven do make (most of) their creations rat-like, but I see nothing bad in using non-rat beasts at all, I'm thinking of the Hell Pit list which had captured trolls (not ratty) and what says that Hell pit wouldn't use captured (larger) spawns of chaos? Oh well, enough of that.

I find the use of bitz on this one sweet, nice work with the greenstuff which have been noted.

Thanks for the comments guys. Progress is very slowly being made. I'm pretty clumsy, I can't do too much at a time, if I do I'll smush a part I've already done while working on another area, so basically I do a little bit, set it aside until tomorrow for the GS to set, do a little more...

Pretty much all that's left now is scales. Here's what I've done so far. Basically I'm going to extend that over the back and shoulders of the whole model. I'm going to try to 'fade' the scales, so it's not blatantly obvious where Tyranid starts and Dragon begins.

Fluff-wise, my Clan lives in northern Nagaroth, in or near the Chaos wastes, highly isolated from the rest of Skavendom. They won't have the latest creation of Clan Moulder, though they may have been able to capture and train some form of monster (actually hearkening back to some older Skaven fluff, where Moulder captured and trained monsters).

So I'm going for more of a 'natural' twisted abomination, rather than an artificial one, which hopefully also looks like it justifies it's huge potential number of hits.

I honestly have no idea. Maybe grey?
