Hi fellow skaven. Please don't stab a new cheiftain in the back. Anyways, I play my skaven army about once every month. I have a tournament coming up (my first), that has in my opinion strict time limits. 1 hour 45 minutes from deployment to end in a 1750 Doubles (3500 pt total). I was just wondering how long does it take to play a game with 200+ rats. I usually play for fun with friends, so we are always taking our time and getting distracted. |

usually in my group, the games end up at about 1 hour for every 1000 points. the games are filled with rules disputes, forgotten phases, etc... imho it will be very difficult to play 3500 in less than 2 hours. protect your general and your unit standards, attack his. that way if the victory points are calculated early, you have some and don't give any freebees away. |

I think that you will find that setup is going to kill a lot of your time, but you will probably be placing a lot of your units after your opponent has finished so there shouldn't be too much hassle. I usually play 2v2 or 3v3 with every player taking 3K each. The larger the games, the faster melee is accomplished and the majority of casualties are caused in melee. The 1:45 time constraint is pretty tight but I don't think you should worry too much. You have a lot of dirty Skaven tricks that you can pull. The time factor will make you a better player in the end. It really gets you thinking ahead. |

For a game that size 1:45 will not see it finished. I'd guess turn 4 will be all you'd get in. At the GW Warhammer Doubles tournament we had 1hour 30 minutes for 750 point doubles (1500 total) games. Whilst me and my partner did get to play all our games to completion (it helped that we had no Shooting or Magic phase to speak of, just rush in and fight) our clubs other parings failed to finish all 6 turns on more than one occasion. Doubles games take more time than singles because of the debating phase that often preceeds each of the other phases. It helps big time if you know your partner well and play a similar style game. Good luck. Ratarsed |

Agreed! If you plan on attending this tournament knowing the time constraints, make sure you plan on being rushed all game. Take a lot of fast-acting, hard-hitting, close-combat units like the A-Bomb. That should speed things up. |

Abomb or doomwheel! Good call. Dont forget to throw in a few weapon teams in there. |

Doom, Doom, Doom, it seems to endlessly say… all will fall, all will be ruinous, Doom, Doom, Doom.

Yes, but maybe not rattling guns as they slow down the game due to the greed vs conservative aspect of the weapon. |

unless there are rules debates or planning tactics mid-game a 2v2 game should take as long as 1v1. basically you move troops/roll dice at double speed. you move your half, your team mate moves his, you cast your spells, he casts his, etc at the same time 1h 45m for a 1750 game is bit tight tough, you might have to make so hasty decisions wich might ruin your tactics when something unexpected comes up |

It would be ugly to watch people poking sticks at a caged rat. It is uglier still to watch rats poking sticks at a caged person. 13th spell casts: 2 Kills: 32 Grave Guard,1 Vampire Lord

i've done a doubles timed game like this but 1500pts(3000) in 1hr 30 and we only ever had 15mins for one turn(7 and 1/2 mins per side) and if the time ran out it was tough, so any unfinshed combats will be classed as a drawn combat and so on. if i'm honest it was one of the best games i've ever done becuase everone is just panicking running around not having a clue what the hells going on while the unhelpfull obsevers mock(i'm sure they found it fun just to watch damn them ) the best bit/worst(depends on your point of view) is when you or you partner does something the the other one does'nt agree with and becuase your under pressure what would be a calm conversation end up as quite diffrent in a amusing allmost comedy sketch kind of way. i dont know if that makes any sense but basically timed games can be really fun. although your is different from ours the last couple of turns will possible(providing you with good humoured people) be the best you've ever played. on a side note if you think about it in order to complete you game you will have around about 8-9mins per each sides turns stained |
