Pestilins obviously have slaves, but do they also have clanrats in the fluff with the monks forming another group above them?

i believe there was a clanrat equivalent in the bubonic court list, rotten rodents or something.
fluffwise, though, they are all monks.

The Bubonic Court did have pusbags and rotting rodents, however that army list is a historical one that's meant to represent the clan in its earlier days, presumably while they were still evolving their disease persona. At current time, the clan is entirely a religious order of sorts, every one of their members would be disease-stricken. That's not to say that they don't have general "helpers" like slaves or novices forming a rank below monks, but the average regular members of Pestilens are the monks.

That does actually raise a few issues for the die hard fluffists, as in theory the clan rats would need to be converted to look more like monks.

I was just planning on painting them with greens and off whites.
I always have a FW CHAOS DWARF HELLSMITH or two for sale. PM me if you're interested.

Well I imagine the die hard fluffist would just take slaves as core and fill the specials with monks untik they reach 2000 points for skrolk .

I think I shall have them as allied members of a another clan or a sub clan or something

I don't see why there wouldn't be clanrats in Clan Pestilence. Since the norm is that all clans have clanrats, I think that anyone claiming there aren't any in Pestilence should try to prove that. :)

The word "monk" carries a whole lot of baggage, and implies that they have been ordained, given vows and so on. They'd still need people cooking food and guarding the nests.

slaves can cook, and i don't know who would be so foolish to attack a pestilence nest, but i agree, they probably have clanrats.
if you want "fluffy" clanrats you can just say they are aprentice monks and are in trial to see who is truly worthy of the pestilent blessing a plague monk recieves.
It would be ugly to watch people poking sticks at a caged rat. It is uglier still to watch rats poking sticks at a caged person.

I think slaves cook better than they cook, if you know what I mean!

Sorry, just had to get that one in. :D

You'd trust the slaves to cook for you? :o
Then again, Plague monks probably wouldn't taste the difference.

Pestilens has clanrats, they're just ill and not as rabid as the monks.

After buying the Lustria book off a friend I am happy enough to use my clanrats and slaves as Rottenrodents/Pusbags. I see no reason for pestilens not to have them in the modern timescale.

I have tried searching but does anyone have any advice on making the clanrats more "pestileny"?

...you can still call me Rusty Tincanne if you want, though.

Alot of it is in the painting, particularly the skin and cloth. Skin: You could use blue as a base colour to paint over, or mix rotting flesh in as your highlighting. (Those would be for pinkish skin, mind you.) Cloth: Have the cloth colours tie into whatever you paint the robes of our monks with. Or use it as a rank marking. (White for initiates, green for monks, purple for heroes... that is a really quick thought, take it or leave it. ;))

Modeling can also be useful. Rotten Rodents had 2 hand weapons, so you could convert a few of your CRs that way. But if you play with a strict WYSIWYG group, be careful with that.

All in all though, the new CRs looks so rag-tag that just painting them thematically should suffice.

If you ever get the chance, you should really try fielding the old BCoN from the Lustria book. I've had a lot of fun with it over the past few years. And the Cauldron rocked.
