I'm sure this will end up a debate with NO one coming to a conclusive answer, but I thought I'd point it out for the FAQ: The plague monk crew on the furnace: are they considered plague monks? For example, are they affected by Plague banner? |

I would think so, mostly because the unit entry does in fact say "Plague Monks". |

given the fact that most people field PM's with a PF the plague banner would be useless if it didn't affect the crew of the PF... but our army book was written by ADD-squirles so i'm not sure.... i don't like the banenr so i don't use it, but my skaven opponent is quite funt of it so i will let him use it for the PF crew aswell |

It would be ugly to watch people poking sticks at a caged rat. It is uglier still to watch rats poking sticks at a caged person. 13th spell casts: 2 Kills: 32 Grave Guard,1 Vampire Lord | |

Well the game I played yesterday, they ruled "no" because the model is a plague furnace, not a plague monk... and the attacks come from a "plague monk crew" and not plague monks per se... I think it should personally; but technically by the rules, it probably shouldn't. And they were more experienced players, so I went with their ruling. |

I would say no also. Since the banner says Plague monk models. Not plague monks. Since the model is a plague furnace with a plague monk crew. |

I'd definitely say yes, they're Plague Monks, and are represented by Plague Monk models on the furnace. It's just that anything effecting the Furnace also effects them. This might be splitting hairs here but they're called Plague Monk crew, not Plague Monk Crew; the emphasis is on the fact that they are actually Plague Monks. |

Using that reasoning doesn't make sense. After seeing the wording you used, and I assume you read from the book, you are saying that crew are not the same as the rest of the army when it is clearly intended that they are. They are Plague Monk Crew....not Clanrat Crew or Artillery Crew or Rat Ogre Crew. The wording is used to denote they are both Plague Monks and Crew or Rat Ogres and Crew. To say that crew which is part of a larger model is not what the text says it is, is wrong. I also did a little research. From your reasoning, Crew in the Dwarf book are not Dwarfs since they are listed as either Crew or Artillery Crew. That would mean that they don't receive any rules that dwarfs receive apart from their war machine rules. Also, since the artillery entry states that only Dwarfs crewing these machines get the Gunner's Pride rule, then the models which are crewing the machines do not get any special rules at all and may only act as standard war machine crew. No one has ever challenged this wording. |

Plague Banner Effects plague monk models. It is a single Model of a plague furnace With plague monk crew. Not a plague furnace with plague monk crew models. It is a model of a plague furnace. Would you need to make toughness tests on the Plague furnace since there are plague monks on it? The Banner would have to effect the PP in order for it to effect its mount. and the rules that go along with its mount. Correct? Ok here is a similar example. Throt the unclean within 12 inches of a SB. (grey seer dead) does the SB get the leadership of throt? The model isnt a Rat ogre but has rat ogre crew. So it would get his Leadership + ranks. |
