UK Battle Brothers; Anyone thought of doing this?

If you haven't heard, there is a Battle Brothers Doubles Tournament in the UK. Basically, you buy any Battalion box and whatever you can build with only its contents is what you can field. The only rules are that you must have one and only one Hero-level character and that only the contents of the box may be used.

You may convert to your heart's content. There are no points values, and no army restrictions. That being said, our new rat battalion has some juicy options.

Considering it comes with 20 monks, you have a solid starting block with a priest.

Convert up the clan rats and you can make some censor bearers, globadiers, stormvermin, etc.

I would also use the two rat ogres and plethora of giant rats and bits to build up two Abominations. You can easily excede 1200-1500 points with some clever converting.

It is a shame that this is Warhammer World only. My gaming group may try a singles variation.

greta idea, my head is full of ideas for what could be made

what possibilities are we looking at?:

heroes:
plague preist (from plague monks)
warlock engineer (from packmaster)
cheiftain (from clanrat or packmaster)

core:
clanrats
plague monks
giant rats
night runners (from clanrats)

special:
rat ogres
plague censer bearers (from plague monks)
gutter runners (from clanrats perhaps but its long shot)
globadiers (im guessing from plague monks, but im not sure myself how i would do that)

rare:
abomination (from rogres and grats, im a bit sceptical myself on how it would be done tho)

is that everything? blimey it would be easier to tick of the things we cant make XD

*bsb* let the overworld be overun *bsb*

Sounds like it could be a new Phink. Bladdering: Typing before you think. :P [/color]

Not a typo mate. I liked the name Blitz inadvertantly gave him.

You are only allowed one hero, so Plague Priest is probably the best choice.

i doubt you can make an HPA since you only have 40x40 bases in the batallion... alltough that is a legal base for monsters i doubt anyone would allow it in any tourney setting, and it might be considered a bit cheesy even in friendly games
It would be ugly to watch people poking sticks at a caged rat. It is uglier still to watch rats poking sticks at a caged person.

A base does not need to be GW to be official. Just cut the box into a 50x50 or 50x100...I would stack it 3-4 times. King Alrik has been sold on an improper base for years. A 40x20 base has not been available until the limited edition fanatic came out. The box also doesn't come with movement trays and any tournament I have been to has had them as mandatory.

I would add the following rules for an extended version of this tournament setting:

-you may make use of the entire contents of the box; sprues and cardboard included

-you may add your own movement trays

-maximum of 2 rares (thus limiting a Skaven player from just glueing together multiple rats into HPAs; other armies can do some bad stuff too)

hey, if you are inventive you get the cheese (not a metaphor)

i have to say i love the idea of just gluing the entire contents of the box together to make 5 or 6 A-bombs. now thats improvisation XD

That is definitely one of my goals over the Christmas vacation. I plan on e-mailing the manager at Warhammer World to see what they are doing as far as conversion rules. If putty is allowed, I will be making some globadiers and a Great Censor for the scratch-built Sprue Furnace.

It now comes to me that we should make this a mini-contest on UE.

Who can make the best army out of only a Battalion box? Obviously, there should be multiple categories and a few I can think of are: Best Overall Army, Best Individual Conversion, Best Painted Army, Best Painted Model, Most Original Conversion, Highest Points Value Total.

I would say that putty is allowed as support for the conversions you can make from the sprues included. The box may also be used as required. Still keeping with Warhammer World's tournament, only one hero character is allowed. Do we need any other rules?

If enough people are interested, we will open a new topic for the contest, "UE Battalion Wars."
