so, as the topic says i consider starting a lizard army, what i want to know, as i know some people here play them, is if i can make a playable 2k army list with the batallion, a slann and a stegadon. i dont need a competitive list, but a friendly one whats able to win a few games.
thanks for all the help in advance :D
It would be ugly to watch people poking sticks at a caged rat. It is uglier still to watch rats poking sticks at a caged person.

Funny, I have been thinking of doing the same thing myself. I was advised by my local Lizard player to get another box of skinks or saurus as there are only 2 core choices in the box.

13th Spell Times Cast: 8 Kill Counter: 14 Maraders, 38 Saurus warriors, 8 high elf bowmen, 20 Empire Handgunners and 14 Dwarf Handgunners

Do you think, that every time a Plague Monk pees, he takes a S2 hit?

Advice seconded, and yes, you probably could make around a 2k list with the battalion (cold ones are EXPENSIVE!) by making an eotg priest (around 450 pts!) and taking a slaan...also around the price of a vlord!

If theres any questions, im here to help! (i have around 2.5k lizzies) :P

well i was considering splitting the 20 saurus warriors into 2 units of 10, but that feels wrong, so another box is probably the ebst way to go.

I was thinking about making Lizard men as well, but it would be skins only, no saurus allowed.

my brother plays them... he takes units of 15 suarus... with spears. give them punch. skink skirmishers are awesome... also temple guard with slann with BSB are better than unbreakable... well not really. also take the power that removes 6's from wizards. i hate it. lol.

If you want to play lizardmen then skinks and saurus warriors are rarely a bad starting point. While there are three core choices in the book, jungle swarms are widely considered to be unplayable. The special section is where the list really shines, although kroxigor units lost much of their punch in the wake of the recent update. I would be happy to answer more specific questions about the army if that would be helpful.

ya, with kroxigors at str 6 (with gw added) the only reason anyone takes them is because they look cool and can make skinks immune to fear when in the unit....

I have to agree that cold one riders are awesome! Aswell as terries although i dont have any because of reactivatable stormbanner scarededness....

My cold one riders have literally crushed 3 units at a time...3 tk chariots, 8 tk horseman, 16 tk warriors a liche priest and a tomb prince... they are worth it...definitely!

Spears on warriors, always-units of 15 or 18 with banner and musician....

Skinks are ussually in groups of ten, my preferance is blowpipes-nasty, nasty things!

I'm personally fond of using javelins on skinks. While the armor save doesn't help all that much, the ability to ignore the penalties from long range and moving is worth investing in. As wonderful as it is to be able to multi-shot with a unit of skinks, that often times comes at the cost of auto-wounding from poison. However, it is worthwhile to include one or two units equipped with blowpipes in the event that you encounter large targets. I've also found that groups of twelve work well. As far as saurus go, that subject has already been covered rather well. However, units of twelve set-up in a 6x2 block can also be effective.

Blowpipes are very affective at taking down large target :P....

A Giant may cause Terror, but even a Giant fears 10 midget lizards armed with tubes and tiny needles. :P

If you want a really solid centerpiece I'd suggest bulking out the Temple Guard from what a Batallion starts you at. They're tough troops with a good armor save and with a slaan they're almost impossible to break. However, if your opponent has a decent degree of high-end firepower handy a 10-TG unit will find it's head painted with a big bullseye, and from what I've seen they don't stand up to bolt-thrower and cannon-fire much better than anybody else would.

I'm pretty much doing this also. Except no Slann, it'll be a carni.

The main boon i found with it was that if you get a box of Saurus and a battalion then you have 2x18 Saurus. And believe me, angainst anything besides WoC that'll hurt badly.

Although i was surprised that it came with 8 COR. I'll have to convert one into my BSB and just not use one...

I don't mind when I accidentally kill my own.  They were probably asking for it anyway.

those cold one riders seem a bit expensive compared to what they do... 35 points seems a lot for a cavalary model.
this might be because i'm used to the point cost of my rats, but still... chaos knights are 40 points and seem a bit more usefull
