As first post as a member on this board let me say: great article . I've been reading it quite a few times last few days. Lots of it is pretty basic and not too hard to think of yourself, but it's great to see some confirmation and the overall quality is great.

Give the rat a medal and a big chunk of cheese, this is great. Not just for skavens, but let's not tell anyone else about that. I'm missing a section on rat swarms, the most wonderful unit in the world! In the Daemon, VC and Dark-elf infested place that is the current warhammer metagame, a unit that can hold and redirect fear and terror-causing units 100% of the time even away from the general and then point the hatred-mongers into a whole new dimension of "oh crap, rats in my flank"-yness these guys deserve a bigger mention than you've given them

I put a bit of list-building advice in the summary/conclusion. (And thanks for the compliment, by the way). MUTATE FOR ALL: This is finally a Fait Accompli! IT'S DONE DONE DONE! As work progressed many earlier sections were mutated, but it's pretty safe to say that few changes will be made henceforth. Now go forth and conquer with your mighty hordes... We Shall INHERIT!!!

If it's not in here they are considered unworthy of mention. Ha. Why do we want slaves when we can have rat swarms? They are Faster Small Absolutely unbreakable 10 WS3 S2 attacks against mages lined up right Three ranks can actually last against dragons Cute and furry. |

swarms crumble i'd be amased if they would last 1 round in combat unless they were 20+. 2 swarms: US 6, 10 wounds, 50 points 20 slaves: US 20, 20 Wounds, 40 points + explosion, mutate: expandable |

It would be ugly to watch people poking sticks at a caged rat. It is uglier still to watch rats poking sticks at a caged person. 13th spell casts: 2 Kills: 32 Grave Guard,1 Vampire Lord | |

There is passing mention of it several times but as far as I saw no specific part of the text about it in itself. I think its mostly because it is considered more a upgrade to the melee potential of your unit than a stand-alone weapon team. Mutate: Or did I just plain miss it too? And, wolfatbar, I read this over the holiday and I must agree, it's amazing! Thank you very much! You given me alot of insights in things I usually wouldn't have had untill some humiliating defeat in battle. 99.9% and a holiday with my best friends sister in Fiji is what I would give you! |
|
Neek! Warlord Thraskitar Squelch'es current campaign trophy rack: 2 wraiths & a banshee, 5 tombguard, 3 Marauders, 5 Chaos Warriors. It's not worth doing something unless you were doing something that someone, somewere, would much rather you weren't doing.

First of all, thanks for the compliments. That trip to Fiji sounds sweet-sweet-sweet I hope she digs Warpstone! And you were right- the Doom Flayer had merely been mentioned in passing a few times. It was mostly in a note at the end of section 10.2 (decent Skaven infantry), as an upgrade to Clannie/Storm Vermin units. I just mutated the entry to its own section (10.3) to make it easier to find. |

A truely phenomenal piece of work! All I can add is: Why couldn't you have been the writer of the Skaven Army Book instead of Jeremy Vetock? ![]() -Blader |

Note that this has been mutated to reflect the 8 page (!!!!) Errata and FAQ, including (amongst other things): -Plague censors force bearer to test -Master Moulders have to be front rank -Warlitter and Bone Breaker unit strength/base size -ALL Assassin attacks (and GR slings) poisoned -Bell and Furnace both joinable -Slaves and templates NOT randomized [CRAP!] -Curse can target units containing a mounted character (and will kill them unless US 5+) -WFT stand and shoot done before enemy moves |
