Which Chaos?; My second army

Well, it was bound to happen. I've been pondering over starting up a second army. I'm trying to avoid overlapping on armies that my friends have and with the variety represented between us that limits me to a Chaos army, High Elves or Brettonians. And, I don't particularly want to play High Elves or Brettonians. So, the question I'm left with is which Chaos army to go with.
I won't be starting them up very soon, still need to fill out the Skaven with a few new gadgets, so it's safe to assume that the new Beasts of Chaos (coming February) will be out or close to it before I start buying things.
So, anybody got some convincing reason why I should go with a given army? Or not go with a given army?

PS. Just from skimming the rulebooks, I mostly dislike Tzeentch, so even if I go Daemons I won't be that guy who needs half a dice block just to get through a magic phase. :P

Beast of Chaos.... they were my first race, and they still serve me well... they do recuire more skill to play than, lets say Deamons, and even warriors (I see both as just advancing an killing everything on there way)

beastmen CAN be good in (almost) every turn (if played right), dominate movement phase with lots of small herds, centigors, warhound (apperently there are going to be more than one type next book) and ambushers.... shooting.. well, no, we (currently) have no shooting

Magic won't be a problem, you can eiter go neutral with a shaman or 2, offensive with Tzeentch or defensive with Khorne (+1 dispell dice per mark, with 4 chariots and a few characters is total defence)

don't mistake BoC with a race that exels in close combat, yes we have lot's of exiting monsters, but it are our gors 'n ungors who will do the job, flanking and that stuff. Still with dragon ogres and shaggoths you can dominate the CC fase (my shaggoth has an impressive kill-list, including at least 5 DE dragons and numerous giants)

you can eiter go for an big monster force: 4 units of mino's , dragon ogres and even a shaggoth as general (s7 asf :D) or go for an fast moving army with hounds, centigors and ambushers. Or an horde army: I've won 2 tournaments with an army of 20 beast herds (20x60=1200 pts, 5 chariots with khorne = 650 + a vew characters)

aaah, nostalgic toughts are there (5 goats scaring a greater deamon, who rallies and shouts my general to death)

Id go for the beast, primarily because they're new and shiny. :P

However, I dont know that a lot of the tactics that Lidef described will be viable. From what ive heard, there will be no shaggoths/dragon ogres for the BoC (by the way, they're now just called "beastmen", not "beasts of chaos". I think GW want to start making the distinction that not everything vaguely mutant is just a chaos vairant, even if said army does worship the chaos gods). Also, the beasts will supposedly be getting their very own spell lore! So theres some fun times right there!

I also dont know what effects chaos marks are going to have on units now. Maybe the same as WoC? Maybe different?

Finally, im a HUGE fan of minotaur armies. Supposedly the Doombull general makes minotaurs a core choice. Scary stuff!!!!! :o

BTW Lidef, how do goats scare off a greater daemon when its unbreakable? And therefore, how and why would it ever need to rally?
You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again?

I have far too much fun making fun of High Elves to actually play a game with them.
Nobody makes fun of Chaos armies. Chaos armies are liable to kill you and feast on your innards if you make fun of them. :P

I must say, I'm slightly surprised that the Warriors are tied with my throw-away option. The fact that there is no love for the Daemons... less shocking. :P

I voted Beastmen.

Reasons: Warriors i don't think have any character, beastmen have abit i think. Warriors are quite basic in the gameplay, move, charge, chop, move.. etc. Beastmen as said before need more tactics.

Daemons are just a no-no to me, I think they have the worse character then any other of the races. They are taken by people who want to win at all costs in my opinion.

I'd say warriors of chaos, as it's just a fairly solid army, and with the beats about to get an update a lot of the units that currently don't get use may become useable in the near future.

Heck, if they focus on getting a lot of the monster units in plastic, you could even do a troll army.

My point being, your clearly not sure what you want to do it you can't narrow any of the chaos armies down just on personal taste in theme mean you might want an army with variety, and WoC book has the most in it.

Second choice is demons, just cause there are a lot of jerk demon players out there doesn't mean you have to be one.

As a completely unbiased party, I'd say Beasts. Daemons are broken and Warriors are boring. Beasts are about to be released, so who knows. However, over the next few months rumours will start coming out and then you'll be able to join the rush.

If you do start beasts, buy some herds now before the new models come out. The new models will be more expensive, and the old ones will still fit in nicely with them.
