Hey all,

I have a question regarding spells for the WLE, and im hoping to bounce some ideas around.

I know that warlocks can choose to substitute a spell for warp lightning, but my question is thus: can he substitute a spell for skitterleap (as its the number 1 spell, or does his choosing of warp lightning override this?

I know a ridiculously long FAQ has to be written by GW to cover questions like this (IMO, i think the skaven book is possible the worst book ever released in terms of rule ambiguity), but I was hoping to get a majority opinion.

If this works in my favour, heres my plan:

* Take a warlord with war litter, shield and fellblade

* Take a lvl 2 WLE and substitute a spell for skitterleap

* Take a unit of monks/stormvermin and give them the storm banner.

* Proceed to skitterleap warlord behind flying terror causers, activate the storm banner, hope he passes his subsequent terror test and then laugh at my opponent.
You kids these days have it so easy, what with your Plague Furnaces and your Hellpit Abominations and your Bonebreaker Warlords. Back in MY day, all we had was Slaves and Clanrats!...and auto-hit Ratling Guns...and skirmishing Jezzails...and 2D6 Warp Lightning...and Lead From The Back...wait, what was my arguement again?

Don't think so, with every magic caster we have it specifies exactly which one they can substitute their rolls with, so unfortunately you'll be needing to roll that 1 if you want to get it.

Would be a fun trick to do for when you do get Skitterleap though ^_^

Nooooo!

Horned Rat damn it! Why is it every time I come up with an awesome all-out win strategy GW inputs some minor clause to shut down my plans!?

*Sigh*

No uber rat ogre fear banner unit. No auto-skitterleap unit.

Next you'll be telling the the storm banner is 1 use only!!! :P

Doesn't the warlitter make him US2? (and thus exempt from skitterleap...)

You'd have to drop the Warlitter to pull that trick off anyway.
